i
Utilizing a wealth of creative
talents offered by Atlanta artists,
this summer's Camp of the Arts, (a
special AJECOMC’E four week
session), proved to be a
remarkable experience for the two
dozen children involved. The day
was divided into sessions during
which intensive work in three-
aspects of the arts could be
explored: Mornings, Ivnette
Grubb taught a lap dance routine;
afternoons alternated between
poetry, (read, discussed and
written under the guidance of
Laura Leiberman, editor of the
Atlanta Art Workers Coalition
Newspaper); making fine rag
paper sheets from pulp with Karen
Wantuck or working on linoleum
block prints, tempera paintings
and non-loom weavings with art
specialists, Bonnie Diamond and
Beverly Miskin
Five Russian children involved
in the program were aided by Bella
Boglisky who served as translator
and interpreter whenever the need
arose.
Final projects included an
illustrated aleph bet on handmade
paper, an edition of linoleum
house a gym, racquetball courts,
10 nursery and kindergarten
rooms, game room, a dark room,
lounges for adults and youth, and
much more.
Tours will follow the ribbon
cutting ceremony. The public is
invited to attend.
