Mr. and Mrs. Rafi Golran of
Kamat-Gan, Israel, were 6,000
miles away from Judea and
Samaria during their summer
vacation in America, but they did
discover one “Good Samaritan”
on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in
Washington.
And that was freshman
Republican Senator Dave
Durenburger of Minnesota.
Dave and Penny Durenburger
hosted the Israeli couple during
their visit to Washington, which
included the usual monument and
museum tours and lunch with the
Durenburgers in the Senate
Dining Room.
But actually Sen. Durenburger
didn’t meet Rafi Golran for the
first time in Washington.
When the Minnesota Republi
can traveled to the Middle East
this spring for meetings with Israeli
leaders, Golran, who owns a tour
agency, served as Sen.
Durenburger's guide.
Between official meetings and
briefings, Golran guided the
Senator through the ancient
wonders of Jerusalem and the
modern wonders of Tel Aviv.
“Rafi is a walking encyclopedia of
history and archaeology,” said the
freshman Senator. “Penny and I
were delighted to return his
hospitality.”
