Federation forms new

In order to emphasize the
significance of its annual
campaign and to assure campaign

possible community understand

and understanding of Federation's
role in raising funds which support
national and overseas programs,
especially those in Israel, through
the Uhited Jewish Appeal.
The Policy and Planning
Committee, which functions at the
highest level, is chaired by the vice
president of campaign and
allocations, Dr. Marvin Goldstein,
and will report directly to the
board of directors of the
Federation
I he day-to-day activities will be
implemented by the campaign

MDA’s ambulance babies
TEL AVIV (MDA)- One of Israel’s largest and most
distinguished “clubs” is the group of several hundred citizens who
were born in Magen David Adorn ambulances over the years. To
represent all the “ambulance babies,” a group of 50 was chosen to
take part in ceremonies marking the opening of Israel’s national
MDA lottery, at President Yikzhak Navon’s Jerusalem residence.
The record for delivering babies in an MDA ambulance seems
to be held by a former driver who now manages the MDA Medical
Emergency Center in Ashkelon. He estimated that he has brought
close to 600 babies into the world in his ambulance, among them a
boy and girl he delivered two years apart, who grew up to marry
each other.
Another record holder of sorts is Hanna Yefet, the Brooklyn-
born wife of a Yemenite, from Kibbutz Sde Eliahu: of her seven
children, four (all boys) were born in MDA ambulances.
