MILTON GOLDMAN, the eminent talent agent, gave a party at his
Sutton Place South domicile, where I met historian Barbara Tuchman
among other distinguished personalities.
“I didn’t have my floors waxed,” she said, “because I didn’t think I'd
be alive.”
“What do you mean?" I asked.
“My doctor told me I had to go in for a coronary bypass. But then
after some tests he found I didn’t need it after all. Look at me—now I’m
waxing my floors." \
(She said her husband. Dr. Lester Tuebnuua, is a trustee at Temple
Sholom in Greenwich, Conn., and “very singleminded about his support
for Israel.")

HAL LINDEN, star of the popular “Barney Miller" television series
on A BC. recently entertained at an Israel Bond dinner in Chicago. Irving
Kupchuf, eminent columnist of the Chicago "Sun-Times." had been after
Hal for three years to appear, and he finally came.
“Joey Bishop was there, too," Hal said. “Joey’s first partner in night
clubs was Jack Soo—they were both scrounging at the time."
Jack Soo, of course, was Hal’s partner in
his TV series until he died of cancer last
January. Jack, who was Japanese, was on
“Family Feud“ on TV and the question was.
“At what age does a boy become a man?"
Everyone said 21. Jack said 13. .
Hal was in town to visit his mother in the
Bronx. Although he’s Jewish, he married
out. “My wife's Catholic. Our marriage took
place in the Community Church. Our four
kids are raised Unitarians, but Ian wants a
