AJCC/Zaban plans
annual Israeli Festival
The fourth annual Israeli
Festival, in celebration of Israel
Independence Day, will be held on
Sunday, April 20, at the Zaban
Park Branch of the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center.
The event will feature a road
race at 9:30 a.m., followed by
exhibits, entertainment, games,
Israeli food and merchandise, local
artists, and films.
Admission is free and open to
the public. The official opening
time ts ii a.m., and lasts all day.

Lewengrub will speak at OVS
Stuart Lewengrub, Southeastern
regional director of the Anti-
Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith, will be the guest speaker of
Congregation Or VeShalom at 8
p.m., Thursday, April 17,/at the
synagogue.
Lewengrub is considered an
expert in the field of United States-
Israel relationships, and very
knowledgeable on the American
Jewish lifestyle and the current
political situation which may
affect it. His topic will be “The
Current Middle Eastern Situation
and (ts Effect on the Relationship
Between the United States and
Israel.”
Lewengrub has visited Israel on
three different occasions. His
latest trip was in 1‘976 as an ADL
staff member assigned to evaluate
the political, economic and
educational problems confronting
Israel.
He became affiliated with the
ADL in 1961 and was appointed
Stuart Lewengrub
to The ADL national office as
assistant director of its
discriminations department in
1967. He was named director of the
Southeastern regional office in
Atlanta in 1969, serving the states
of Georgia, Tennessee, South
Carolina and Alabama.

Hadassah begins April, appeal

The Atlanta Chapter of
Hadassah has launched its annual
April Appeal, the proceeds front .

research and development in the
struggle against cancer. The appeal

chapter closing meeting and

Shipwreck 1980 social weekend for
high school seniors to be held from
May 9-lT~at UGA in Athens.
Newly installed members of the
executive board include Jay
Tanenbaum, chancellor; Steve
Fine, vice chancellor; Larry
Freudenberg, scribe; Joby Gruber,
bursar; and Michael Greenfeld,
member-at-large. Steven Odrezin
and Mark Miller are the
fraternity’s new rush chairmen.
Eight Bulldogs joined Nu Chapter
during the winter rush.

The Kesher Club will rock and
rock for eight continuous hours
from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday, April
13, at tha AJCC/Zaban, to raise
money for Hadassah and the Louis
Kahn Group Home for senior
adults.

Alpha Omega hosts Daniel Bloch
Daniel Bloch, prominent Israeli
journalist and the son of the late
Dora Bloch who was taken
hostage in Uganda and died during
the historic Entebbe hijacking
incident, will be the guest speaker
at the Alpha Omega State of Israel
Bonds dinner honoring Dr. S.
Perry Brickman. The dinner will
take place April 24, at the Ahavath
Achim Synagogue.
A political and diplomatic
correspondent for the Israeli
morning daily newspaper Davar,
Daniel Bloch covered the peace
negotiations between Israel and
Egypt from Sadat’s initial visit to
Jerusalem, through numerous
visits to Egypt, to the peace
ceremony at the White House. He
is the head of Davar’s Jerusalem
bureau.
Bloch was bom in Jerusalem
and received a degree in economics
and history from the Hebrew
University there. He has toured
and lectured throughout the
world. Before joining the staff of
Davar he was a correspondent for
Israeli radio. Since 1970 he has
been a member of the Central
Committee of Israel’s Labor Party.
