Etz Chaim hosts
Rabbi Harvey Winokur
The Etz Chaim adult education
committee will host Rabbi Harvey
Winokur of Temple Sinai as part
1 of the continuing “Rabbi Series,”
at 8 p m., Sunday, May 4, at the
congregation’s Parkaire office.
Rabbi Winokur will speak on
the history and development of
Reform Judaism.

Temple Sisterhood
views fashions
The Temple Sisterhood will
have an open board meeting at 10
a m., Monday, May 5, at the
Temple.
Following the meeting at 11:30
a.m., there will be a children’s
fashion show presented by Little
Threads and a luncheon which will
include informal modeling of
women’s fashions by the Clothes
Bin. Models are sisterhood
members and their children.
Co-chairwomen for the day are
Mrs. Carla Silver and Mrs. Cardie
Jackson.
Cost for the luncheon is $4, with
proceeds benefiting Camp
Coleman.

Dor Chai Hadassah
discusses anti-Semitism
Dor Chai Hadassah will meet at
7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 4, at the
home of Karen Wajsman, Laurel
Valley Apartments, Marietta.
Ms. Janet Singerman, assistant
director of the American Jewish
Committee, Southeastern region,
will lead a discussion on “Anti-
Semitism in the South, Now and in
the Future."

reschedule lox box
The lox box, sponsored by the
sisterhood of Congregation Beth
Shalom, has been rescheduled for
the weekend of May 10 and II.
These Mother’s Day treats may be
ordered through May 4, and can be
delivered to participants' homes on
Saturday, May 10 after Shabbat.

Congregation Beth Shalom will
have a Lag B’Omer celebration at 5
p.m., Sunday, May 4, on its
property, at the corner of

a picnic supper will be available for
a nominal fee.

Bat Shalom Hadassah will
install its officers for the coming
year at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May
10 at the Riviera Hyatt Motel.
The evening will include a seated
dinner with entertainment and a
cash bar. The cost is $8.50 a

original musical
“We Are Here—A Brand New
Yiddish Revival...In English,” an
original musical revue written by
Mark Cohen and Gary Motterfor
the Ahavath Achim Synagogue
will be performed at 7:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, May 6, and Wednesday,
May 7, at the synagogue.
The musical production is an
affirmation of the Jews’ strength,
optimism, and vitality throughout
history.

Ahavath Achim holds
bar mitzva orientation
Ahavath Achim Synagogue will
hold a bar/bat mitzva orientation
meeting at 8 p.m., Thursday, May
15 at the synagogue.
This meeting, to be conducted
by Rabbi Esptein and the
synagogue staff, will deal with the
significance of the bar/bat mitzva
ceremony and other aspects
connected with this event.
Parents of a bar or bat mitzva in
1980, 81, or 82 at Ahavath Achim
are urged to attend. Those who
plan to attend should call the
synagogue ofice, 355-3508, by May
12.
Tau Epsilon Phi
plans ‘Shipwreck’
Tau Epsilon Pi fraternity at the
University of Georgia is planning a
“Shipwreck” weekend. May 9-11
at the university in Athens, Ga.
High school seniors are^invited
to participate in the weekend.
Fraternity members will show the
students around the campus to
give them a taste of “college life.”
Cabaret comes to
the AJCC/Peachtree
Habima, the showcase theater of
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center, is presenting the musical
“Cabaret” directed by Eric DuBois
at the AJCC/Peachtree.
Scheduled performances will be
May 3,4-8,10,11-15,17,18-22,24,
and 25. Curtain is at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets will be on sale at the Center
for $3.50 and $4.50.
