Brisket in mustard sauce Gingered brusseis sprouts
Second-cut brisket conics out
more fiavorful if you pot-roast it
on top of the stove. A very simple
but delicious method of preparing
it is:
4 large onions, cut in rings
1 stalk celery, diced
3 lbs. brisket
mustard
water—'/i to % cup
Saute onions and celery in a
dutch oven until onions are
golden. Generously smear mustard
over the brisket. Remove the
onions and celery and brown the
meat on all sides. Place the
vegetables back on top of the meat.
Add water. Cover pot and bring to
a boil. Lower heat to simmer and
cook for about three hours or until
tender. Add more water if
necessary.
Brussels sprouts can be prepared
in an imaginative way and offer a
change from the usual vegetables.

Reuven M. ben Avraham, a
publishing poet and the executive
director of the Anshei Sphard -
Beth El Emeth Congregation in
Memphis, has announced the
founding of Chazon/Vision; an
annual anthology of creative
JeWUh writing! The anthology is
designed to be a showcase
publication exclusively dedicated
to publishing the creative writing
efforts of aspiring Jewish poets,
writers and dramatists on Jewish
themes.
Chazon's editors are currently
inviting the submission of
unpublished manuscripts of
poetry, short stories and short
theatrical works which might be of
artistic, educational or
entertainment value to Jewish
community centers or synagogues.
The works must, however, reflect
specifically Jewish themes and
concerns. The deadline for all
entries is April 30, 1983. The first
volume of Chazon is scheduled for
publication in the fall of 1983.
Although the majority of
literary pieces represented in
Chazon will be the work of adults,
the editors are also interested in
receiving insightful creative
writings of children and
adolescents on various Jewish
themes. Day school and religious
school principals and teachers are
urged to sponsor creative writing
projects in their schools and to
submit selected writings for
possible publication.
All submitted manuscripts
should be typed, double-spaced
and include a self-addressed
stamped envelope as well as a
capsule biography. Children's and
young adults’ works should be
legible, if ffkad#i4Men, and also
include the name of the student,
age and school attended.
All manuscripts should be
forwarded to: Editors, Molad
Publications, 224 Mehta Road,
Memphis, Tenn. 38119.
