shops on “Faith Development: A

Students’ Jewish Development.”

■ offers a one- or two-year program
in a growth-oriented atmosphere,
teaching the textual and analytical
skills necessary to deal indepen
dently with the classical Jewish
texts.
The student body is composed
of mature, intellectual men and
women, with an average age of 24
to 26, most of whom have gradu
ated from college. They have limited
background in Jewish studies, and
are taking time from their career
pursuits to deepen their knowledge
of Judaism, further their personal
growth and increase their connec
tion with the land and State of
Israel.

American Jewish Congress will
meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at

tant executive director of Jewish
Family Services, will lead a discus
sion on duai career families.
Mrs. Schpeiser has been with
Jewish Family Services since 1976.
She is responsible for staff training
and supervision, program develop
ment and consultation to staff, cli
ents and community agencies and
groups. She is in private practice in
marriage, family and individual
therapy.

NCJW evening branch
gives investment advice
In an effort to explore the role of
the Jewish woman in religion and
the community, the Ahavath Achim
Synagogue and the National Coun
cil of Jewish Women, Atlanta sec
tion, will co-sponsor “Women in
the Community,” with Leah Janus
at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at the
Synagogue. This is the third of
three study groups titled “Judaism
and Feminism: Changes and Chal
lenges.”
The first topic, “Biblical and His
torical Perspectives,” was led by
Rabbi Arnold Goodman, Ahavath
Achim Synagogue, and the second
topic, “Women’s Roles and Rituals
in the Synagogue,” was led by Dr.
Naomi Janowitz, visiting assistant
professor of religion at Emory Uni
versity.
