fact or fiction, emotion or intellect?
Must opinions diverge? Are people
really listening to each other, or
simply pretending to hear?
Top leaders of Atlanta's black
and Jewish communities will ad
dress these and other controversial
issues at a community forum on
Thurs., Feb. 28, at Shearith Israel
Synagogue. “Black/Jewish Relations
...Must Our Agenda’s Conflict?”
begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free
and refreshments will be served.
Moderator for this unprecedented
event will be former Georgia U.S.
Rep. Elliott Levitas. Levitas is honor
ary chairman for the Georgia B’nai
B’rith Grass Roots Action Network,
one of several sponsors for the event.

Synagogue^and Stuart Lewengrub,
Southeast regional director, Anti-
Defamation League of B’nai B’rith.
Additional panelists will be an

The forum is the kick-off event
for a year-long series of seminars
called “The Great Balancing Act:
Adapting to the Eighties.” These
educational sessions are sponsored
by B’nai B’rith Women and B’nai
B’rith, and will cover: Working
Families, March 20; Career
Changes, May 15; Cult Awareness,
Sept. 11; and Coping with Aging,
Nov. 13.

Historians elect Mrs. Blumberg
Mrs. Janice R. Blumberg of Wash
ington, D.C., has been elected pres
ident of the Southern Jewish His
torical Society. Mrs. Blumberg,
formerly of Atlanta, is the author
of several books and numerous
articles, the most recent being a
biography of the late Rabbi Jacob
M. Rothschild of Atlanta.
Other officers elected are Dr.
Samuel Proctor of Gainesville, Fla.,
vice president; Dr. Louis Schmier
of Valdosta, secretary; and Edwin
Zelnicker of Mobile, treasurer.
