The Leo M. Frank B’nai B'rith
Lodge installed its 1986 officers in
December. They are Alan Ulman,
president; Richard Lewenthal, David
Diamond, Alan Sawyer, Mark
Kopkin and Ira Haber, vice presi
dents; Bruce Kaufman, treasurer;
and Larry Duwell secretary/
historian.
The lodge will play basketball
from 1-3 p.m Sunday, Jan. 26, at
the Briarwood Recreation Center.

Shearith Israel Teens
plan dinner, movies event
Shearith Israel Teens will sponsor
an evening of movies on Sunday,
Jan. 19, at the synagogue. The
program will begin with a pizza
dinner at 6 p.m., with movies
continuing until 1 1 p.m. Cost is $1
for Shearith Israel Teen Group
members, $2 for others.
All high school age teenagers are

UGA Hillel House plans
seminars, lectures in Jan.
From Jan. 21-23, Kiruv,agroup
ofstudents from Yeshiva University
in New York, will conduct seminars
at the U niversity of Georgia for the
second consecutive year. Kiruv travels
throughout the country to increase
Jewish awareness.
Topics for this year’s seminars
include women in Judaism, love
and sex from a Jewish perspective,
Tu b’shvat, and a screening of the
movie “The Frisco Kid.” Anyone

speak to University of Georgia
students at the Hillel House in
Athens at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.

Topics will include world response
to terrorism and Israeli defense
measures. The dinner is free and
reservations can be made by noon
Monday, Jan. 27, by calling Hillel

non-members at the university are

Beth Jacob's sisterhood
to sponsor crime seminar
A special presentation by Citizens
Against Crime will be featured at
Beth Jacob sisterhood’s general
meeting at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan.
20, at the synagogue. The one-hour
seminar concerns a serious subject —
preventing crime and self-protection
presented in an entertaining manner.
There is no charge and all are
welcome. Dairy refreshments will
be served following a brief business
meeting.

Etz Chaim Synagogue will sponsor
a public forum at 8 p.m. Wednesday,
Jan. 29, concerning a new full-
service branch of the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center for Cobb, North
Fulton and surrounding counties.

Chug Israel to sponsor
Israeli dinner on Jan. 21
Chug Yisrael (Israel group) will
hold an Israeli dinner at the AJCC
Zaban from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Jan. 21. Chug Yisrael is intended
for all high school students who
have either been to Israel or are
interested in going and would like
to take part in Israel-oriented
programming. Members of all area
youth groups are encouraged to
participate, as well as students who
are not involved in any youth group.
Chug YIsrael is sponsored by Young

The Temple plans honor
to MLK at Jan. 17 service
The Temple will hold its Martin
Luther King Jr. Shabbat worship
service at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Jan.

Congregation Shearith Israel will
sponsor an afternoon of bowling
from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at
Fairlanes, 2175 Savoy Drive, to
honor children in grades three-

Woman” is the topic for Ein Karem
Hadassah’s Education Day at 9:30

Speakers will be Ms. Jeanne
Shaw, R. N . and psychologist; Mrs.
Shelly Ford, aerobics and fitness
instructor; Dr. Carol Teutsch,
internist and endocrinologist; and
Rabbi Leonard Lifshen of Congre
gation Beth Shalom. Brunch will
follow.

Hadassah chapters plan
medical ethics evening
Mount Scopus and Keturah
chapters of Hadassah will sponsor
a program entitled “Whose Body is
it Anyway?” at 8 p.m. Saturday,
Jan. 25, at the Hebrew Academy.
Dr. Larry Bregman will explore
medical ethical questions surrounding
controversial topics relating to Jewish
law, such as abortion and transplants.
Hostesses for the event are Debbi
Ames, Anita Eidex and Fran Zuspan.
Cost is $3.50, and refreshments
will be served. Husbandsand friends
