Women’s American ORT
to discuss new chapter
Women’s American ORT will
meet at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.
29, at the home of Barbara Bromberg.
Rabbi Donald Tam will be guest
speaker.
The organization is planning a
new chapter in the area including
Lithonia, Decatur, Norcross, Stone
Mountain, Lilburn, Deluth and
Tucker. ORT is a multi-branched
network which supports vocational/
technical schools throughout the
world. Since its inception, over
two million people have been trained
in the 800 ORT educational facilities
in 19 countries spanning five
continents.

ORT chapter schedules
luncheon at Plantation
The North Suburban Chapter of
Women’s American ORT will host
its paid-up membership luncheon
Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Plantation
on Lenox Club House. A business
meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m.
with a salad bar luncheon to follow.
Dessert will be prepared at a demon
stration by Glenn Powell, Peasant
Restaurants’ pastry chef.

Achim Lodge will hold
installation dinner Feb. 1
The Achim Lodge of B’nai B’rith
will hold its annual installation
banquet on Saturday, Feb. 1, at
the Rivermont Country Club in
Alpharetta. The evening begins at
7:15 p.m. with a social hour and
cash bar. Dinner will be served at 8
p.m. and will be followed by a
magic/ comedy show featuring Dan
Garret. The cost for the banquet is
$20 a person. Contact Bruce

The Achim Lodge is open to all
young Jewish men in the Atlanta

Eighth Grade BBYO
plans placement event
Atlanta Council Eighth Grade
BBYO will hold a chapter placement
program at the AJCC/Peachtree
from 2:15-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb.
2. Registered eighth graders will be
introduced to their new chapters.
Those attending conclave will be
bused to the program.
Eighth graders who have not yet
registered for the 1985-86 program
year may attend the chapter place
ment program and register for $30.

Fashion show to be held
at Ritz-Carlton Jan. 27
On Monday, Jan. 27, Saks Fifth
Avenue and the Ritz-Carlton
Buckhead will host a fashion show
for paid-up NCJ W members at the
Buckhead Ritz-Carlton, featuring
the designs of Paul Louis Orrier.
Orrier is expected to appear for
this event, which marks the sixth
annual Saks Fashion Show given
in recognition of the volunteer
efforts made by the members of the
National Council of Jewish Women,
Atlanta Section.
The organization’s primary fund
raising effort is the twice-a-year
Bargainata sale, proceeds of which
go to fund the organization’s pro
grams and projects in the Jewish and
general communities locally, na
tionally and internationally.
Workmen’s Circle plans
a slide show on Jan. 26
Workmen’s Circle invites everyone
to see a slide show at 3 p.m. Sun
day, Jan. 26, 1985 of the peace
walk through Europe by one of the
members, Adele Kushner. The group
of eight Americans walked from
Ireland to Hungary, and they also
visited Rumania, Czechoslovakia
and Yugoslavia.

ZOA school seeks
ZOA’s American High School
at Kfar Silver is now accepting
applications for enrollment from
current ninth and 10th grade students.
This one-year program will commence
in September 1986, and will be
based at the Kfar Silver Educational
Complex which is located near
Ashkelon. This will mark the third
year for the American High School
and the program is geared specifically
for 10th and 1 Ith grade students
who are interested in studying in
Israel and also meeting state public
school curriculum requirements.
In addition to their regularstudies,
students will learn Hebrew, Jewish
studies and will also tour Israel.
Applications are being accepted
for eight ZOA Masada Israel Summer
Youth Programs open to young
people between 13 and 22 years of
age. The programs are sponsored
by ZOA Masada, the youth organi
zation of the Zionist Organization
of America, which has been providing
youth programs in Israel for 23
years. The experience acquired
through the years, as well as the
many contacts which the ZOA has
in Israel, are used to present American
youth with an incomparable ex
perience in Israel. Currently. Masada
is America’s largest student summer
program in Israel.
