Cantor Gordon to lead
Jewish music choral
Atlanta is forming its ow n Zamir
Choral—a group of singers who
will perform the best of Jewish
music. Cantor Joel Gordon of Temple
Sinai will direct the choral and
select works spanning 400 years,
form the great classics to contem
porary Jewish folksongs, for the
group’s first concert.
Auditions and registration will
be held from 8-9:45 p.m. Wednesday,
Feb. 12, at AJCC/Zaban. and from
7-9:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at
Temple Sinai. Rehearsals will begin
Wednesday, Feb. 19, and continue
every Wednesday at AJCC/Zaban
from 8-9:45 p.m. in preparation for
the first concert, to be held on May
10.

Temple Kol Emeth Plans
‘Art Expo and Auction’
Temple Kol Emeth will host an
“Art Expo and Auction” on Satur
day, Feb. 15, at the New Sheraton
Hotel at Roswell Summit (Georgia
400 at Holcomb Bridge Road).
A Patrons Champagne Reception
and Preview at 7 p.m. will be
followed by the general auction
preview at 8 p. m. The auction starts
at 8:30 p.m.
Cost of $10 a person includes
preview, champagne, hors d’oeuvres,
general admission, and two general
admission tickets for a friend or
neighbor.
Marlin Art Gallery of Deer Park,
N.Y., will coordinate the event,
which features such artists as Agam,
Dali, Delacroix, Calder, and Purcell
in watercolors, posters, lithographs,
sculpture and graphics.

Spirit of Life schedules
luncheon, fashion show
The Spirit of Life Chapter of the
City of Hope will hold its annual
luncheon and fashion show at 11:15
a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at The
Pavillion, 6521 Roswell Road in
Sandy Springs. The fashions will
be presented by Potpourri. Cost is
$15 a person. All members are urged
to attend and guests are welcome.

Plans “Readazzling” Event
The Atlanta Chapter City of
Hope will meet at 1 p.m. Monday,
Feb., 17, at the Tempo 2000 Club
house. A presentation by Beadazzle
and an opportunity to design jewelry
is planned.
Refreshments will be served.
B’nai Israel Sisterhood
Plans Spaghetti Dinner
The B’nai Israel sisterhood will
host its annual spaghetti dinner at
6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the
synagogue.
Cost is $4 for adults, $2 for
children if reservations are made by

Ahavath Achim presents
afternoon recital Feb. 16
The Cultural Arts Committee of
Ahavath Achim Synagogue contin
ues its series of Sunday afternoon
concerts at 3 p.m. Feb. 16 with a
recital featuring the winners of its
woodwind competition for metro
area high school students.
This year’s winner, Susan Kerbs
of Lassiter High School, plays the
flute. Second place was shared by
clarinetist Amy Meyer of Lassiter
High School and bassoonist John
Sparrow of Roswell High School.
All three are members of the Atlanta
Symphony Youth Orchestra.
The program will include Poul
enc’s Sonata for Flute and Piano,
Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor for
Bassoon, Weber’s Concertino for
Clarinet and Orchestra, and the First
movement of a Mozart quartet for
flute and strings.
This is the third consecutive year
that the committee has sponsored
contests for local high school stu
dents. Harriet and Sam Draluck are
chairmen of the committee.
The concert is free and open to
