Young Couples Club Sets
Date for Cocktail Party
The Atlanta Jewish Young
Couples Group will hold a cocktail
party at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.
Hors d’ouevres and mixers for
liquor will be provided. For reserva
tions, call Amy and Morris Maslia,

The group was formed last sum
mer by Mr. and Mrs. Don Cohen to
serve young Jewish couples not
affiliated with a congregation. The
club, with an active membership of
approximately 20 couples, arranges
casual get-togethers, evenings at
restaurants, and events in which
children can participate. Dues are $5.

A.A. Sisterhood Plans
Donor Luncheon Feb. 11
Ahavath Achim Sisterhood will
hold its 45th annual Donor Lunch
eon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11,
at the synagogue.
An original skit, “Fannie Get It
Done” will be performed by mem
bers of the sisterhood.
Platinum, gold and silver medal
lion donors were honored at a tea
Thursday, Jan. 30, at the home of
Phyllis Levin.

Shearith Israel Juniors
To Visit Ebenezer Baptist
Congregation Shearith Israel’s
Junior Congregation will visit the
Children’s Chapel of Ebenezer Bap
tist Church on Sunday, Feb. 16.
One year ago the Church’s young
people visited Shearith Israel.
Participants will meet at Shearith
Israel at 10:30 a.m. and will return
to the synagogue at 1:30 p.m. The
program will include services, lunch
and a question-and-answer session.
All children grades three-seven

Ketura Hadassah plans
third progressive dinner
Ketura Hadassah’s third annual
progressive dinner will be held at
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. This
year’s donations of $20 a person
will be given in aid of infertility
research at the Hadassah Medical
Center in Jerusalem.

Installation dinner set
by JWV Suburban Post
Jewish War Veterans Suburban
Post 980 will hold its annual instal
lation of officers dinner on Saturday,
beb. 15, to honor the incoming
commander, Manny Rothstein, and
outgoing commander, Harry New
man. The dinner will be held at
Quinn’s Mill Restaurant on Northlake
Parkway.

HiHel plans South Africa lecture
Dr. Cedric L. Suzman, a former
resident of the Republic of South
Africa and an expert on inter
national relations, will speak Friday,
Feb. 14, on “South Africa: What
Should America Do?,” at the Emory
University Hillel House.
Suzman is vice president and
educational program director of
the Southern Center for International
Studies, and a part-time associate
professor in the College of Manage
ment, the Georgia Institute of
Technology.
Suzman, who has lived in Atlanta
since 1974, is a vice president for
International Relations of the Atlanta
Chapter of the American Jewish
Committe as well as a member of
the Steering Committee of the AJC
International Relations Commission.
From 1975 to 1981, he was a
member of the board of the Epstein
School.
Shabbat service will begin at 6
p.m., followed by dinner at 7, and
Suzman’s speech around 8. The
public is invited. The Hillel House
B’nai Torah cooking up
Family Shabbat Dinner
Congregation B’nai Torah will
hold its first Family Shabbat Dinner
on Friday, Feb. 14. Services will
begin at 6:15 p.m. rather than 8:00
p.m., followed by a dinner prepared
by the B’nai Torah Sisterhood and
served by the B’nai Torah Brother
hood.
Cost for members is $6 per adult
and $4 per child under 12. Prospective
members are invited at no cost.

Open Board Meeting Set
by Atlanta BBW Feb. 17
There will be an open board
meeting of the Atlanta Council of
B’nai B’rith Women at 7:45 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 17, at the AJCC/
Zaban to discuss issues at the forth
coming BBW Biennial Convention
in Las Vegas.

Emanu-El Sisterhood
Plans Forum on Children
Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood is
sponsoring an educational forum
on “Communicating with Your
Children,” from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on
Sunday, Feb. 23. Brunch will be
served.
Richard Becker, Mrs. Iris Balton,
and Dr. Barry Klein will discuss
various aspects of communicating
with your children. Becker is educa
tional director of Temple Emanu-El
and director of the Country School
Ltd. Mrs. Balton is executive direc
tor of the Link Counseling Center.
Klein is a licensed psychologist
specializing in family relations. An
open discussion will follow.

JWV Post 112 Ladies Set
Date for Dinner Meeting
The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Atlanta Jewish War Veterans Mack
Frankel Post 112 will hold a dinner
meeting Monday, Feb. 17, at the
Post Home on Roswell Road. Each
member is requested to bring a
covered dish equivalent to at least
$4 and should contact Miriam
Bromberg, chairman, 634-7588, to
advise her of food being brought.
Those not bringing food may pay
$4. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
and the meetingat 8:15 p.m. Election
and installation of the new officers
of 1986-87 will take place. All
members are welcome.
