Young Judaea summer programs
offer positive Jewish environment
Special to The Southern Israelite
“We are not the largest, nor are
we the most social of Jewish Youth
programs. But, we are the head
quarters for Israel-oriented programs
and as such, you better believe we
work hard to make our summer
programs about Israel and in Israel
the very best.”
So sums up Beth Gluck, Young
Judaea’s regional director in ex
plaining the energy that Young
Judaea is putting into increasing
Southern teens’ representation at
the movement’s national camp in
New York (Camp Tel Yehudah)
and on their three programs in
Israel.
While Young Judaea is a year-
round movement, the summer
experience allows for total immersion
into a Jewish / pro-Israel environment.
Ratherthan feeling “different” Jewish
teens have the opportunity to feel
the security of being in the majority
and of peer pressure toward positive
Jewish identity.
Camp Tel Yehudah prepares teens
to stand proud as Jews with their
own personal identity. Tel Yehudah
is for teens in grade 10-12 and
draws from all over the United
States (including Hawaii) and Puerto
Rico.
Hadracha is the Hebrew term for
leadership. It is also the name of
Young Judaea’s leadership training
tour to Israel. Hashachar Israel
Experience (H. I. E.) is the movement’s
tour for teens interested in a more
general view of Israel.
Year Course is Young Judaea’s
way to receive added meaning from
a freshman year at college. Year
Course is a specialized program
which allows a freshman to earn
college credit while in Israel. It also
allows for another year of growth
before beginning college.
Young Judaea does not offer
something for everyone. But it does
offer an intense Jewish/Israel ex
perience. Contact Young Judaea
by phone (404) 876-1526 or by mail
to Hashachar - Young Judaea, 1655

Atlanta chapter of ZO A to hold

As a major step in the revitalization
of the Atlanta Zionist District,

Synagogue.
At that time, the nominating
committee will present the following
slate of officers: Rabbi S. Robert
Ichay, president; Arthur Geduldig,
Roy Cobb, Rabbi Juda Mintz and
Max Robkin, vice presidents; Robert
Dunn, secretary, Joe Cohen, treasurer
and Charles Lowenstein, parlia
mentarian. Nominations will also
be accepted from the floor, followed
by election of officers.
Rabbi Joseph Sternstein, former
national president of the Zionist
Organization of America and now

National Fund, will be the speaker.
Another highlight of the meeting
will be the introduction of the
newly appointed director of the
Atlanta Zionist District, Rabbi
