Mt. Scopus plans panel on skills
At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb.
26 Linda Fleishman, member of
the National Board of Hadassah,
will lead a seminar on group
dynamics for Mount Scopus
Chapter of Hadassah, at the
Hebrew Academy. This is the
second in a series of skills
development seminars sponsored
by Mount Scopus, featuring
national Hadassah speakers.
The meeting will include a role
playing skit featuring Diane
Braun, Ruth Dickstein, Sondra
Epstein, Marsha Londe and
Charlene Milstein. These seminars
are free and are open to the
community.
Ms. Fleishman, of Greensboro,
N.C., has been a full time volunteer
for Hadassah since becoming
president of the Southern Seaboard
Region of Hadassah. She was North
Linda Fleishman
Carolina’s first Volunteer of the
Year.

Author to speak on intermarriage
“Intermarriage...A Challenge
for the Jewish Future” will be the
theme for an American Jewish
Committee membership program
Thursday, Feb. 27, at the home of
Janet and Chuck Wolf. Guest
speaker will be Egon Mayer,
author of “Love & Tradition:
Marriage Between Jews and
Christians.”
Mayer is professor of sociology
at Brooklyn College and president
of the Association for the So
ciological Study of Jewry.
His pulbications include “From
Suburb to Shtetl” (1979), a book
dealing with the Orthodox Jewish
community in Brooklyn; “Inter
marriage and the Jewish Future”
(1979), a study of a nationwide
sample of Jewish intermarriages,
and “Children of Intermarriage”
(1983), which focuses on the
children of couples who partici
pated in the 1979 research.
Both intermarriage studies were
commissioned by the American
Egon Mayer
Jewish Committee.
Mayer will have an informal
dinner discussion with AJC’s
Young Professionals Group at 6
p.m. follow-ed by an 8 p.m.
program for AJC members and

B’nai Torah to present
forum on Soviet Jewry
The Brotherhood of Congre
gation B’nai Torah will hold a
breakfast meeting at 9:30 a.m.
Sunday, Feb. 23, at the synagogue.
Steve Mendel will discuss the
status of Soviet Jewry and his
recent trip to Russia. While in
Russia trying to meet with re-
fusniks, Steve was arrested by the
KGB and forced to leave the
country. A continental breakfast
will be served for $2.50 and all
guests are welcome.
NCJW to hold parties
at the Jewish Home.
The National Council of Jewish
Women will host the monthly
birthday party at the Jewish Home
at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Honorees for February will be
Ann Levy, Lucille Moses, Mary
Schoenberg and Jennie Tasman.

be honored at 3 p.m. Wednesday,
Feb. 26.
