Congregation Etz Chaim will
hold its thud annual Scholar-in-

decree from the Jewish Theolo-
j-.ci. seminars of America, he was
a na\ai line officer, with tour
assignments in Vietnam's Mekong
Delta and Roto, Spain. He was
one of the small group of veterans
whose efforts resulted in the
construction of the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial in Washing
ton, D.C.; and he delivered the
closing prayer at its dedication.
Rabbi Resnicoff was present in
Beirut on October 23, 1983, when a
terrorist truck bomb killed or
wounded more than 300 Amer
icans. One of the first on the scene,

Birmingham Post 608 will host

Jewish War Veterans, Saturday
and Sunday, March 29 and 30 at

Post 608 will host a cocktail
party at the Holiday Inn Saturday
night from 6 to 7 p.m. Dinner
(Dutch treat) will follow at 7:30
p.m. Continental breakfast will be
served Sunday morning at 9:30
with a meeting at 10 a.m. followed
by a buffet luncheon.

Jewish Home
Jane Weinstein was elected
president of the newly-formed
Auxiliary of The Jewish Home at
the election and installation of its
first executive board Monday,
Feb. 10.
Maggie Arnold, who was elected
.mbership vice president, said
thit the Auxiliary intends to
“reach out and touch all sectors of
the Jewish community,” and she
welcomed men as well as women to
join their ranks.
The Auxiliary’s first general
membership meeting will be high
tea the Ritz-Carlton on May 20.
The slate of officers includes:

B’nai Torah is primed
to ‘rock, roll, remember’
Members of Congregation B’nai
Torah will stroll down memory
lane with a “Rock, Roll and
Remember” party at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 1, in the
synagogue social hall. The
Doughtys will provide ’50’s music,
and a deli dinner will be served
with a cash bar available.
Members and guests are invited,
and everyone is encouraged to
dress ’50s style. Cost is $15 a

on “A Rabbi in Uniform: Jewish
Chaplains in Today’s Armed
Services.” He will offer comments
during Saturday morning Torah
reading, and following a Shabbat
luncheon, he will talk about
“Force & Faith: Jewish Views on
War, Peace and Terrorism.” A
cocktail reception will be held
Saturday evening at the home of
Rabbi Shalom and Shelly Lewis
for benefactors and patrons of the
weekend. On Sunday the rabbi will
meet the classes of the religious
school and share his personal
experiences while an officer, a
chaplain and a Jew in the United
States Navy.
Spring class schedule
set by education bureau
Wednesday March 12, marks
the beginning of the spring
quarter, Adult Institute Series of
the Atlanta Bureau of Jewish
Education.
Six levels of Hebrew instruction,
as well as two levels of Yiddish, will
be offered at the AJCC/ Peachtree.
Hebrew Calligraphy will be
taught by Mrs. Miriam Stadtler
Rosenbaum, assistant director of
the bureau.
Teddy Weinberger, doctoral
candidate in English literature at
Emory University will be the
instructor for Exploring Contem
porary American Jewish Litera
ture.
A four-week course will be
offered at Congregation B’nai
Torah with Dr. Vivian (Dede)
Thompson entitled A Mission in
Holocaust Art.
