Gen. Yehudah Halevy, interna
tional president of the Israel Bonds
Organization, was in Atlanta last
week where he announced that
Asher I. Benator will succeed
Charles D. Lowenstein as general
chairman of the Atlanta Israel
Bonds Campaign Cabinet.
In announcing the change,
Halevy praised Lowenstein for his
many years of leadership and
service as chairman and credited
him with this past year’s highly
successful campaign.
Halevy said that he feels confi
dent that Benator will help move
the Israel Bonds campaign to even
higher levels.
Benator, a native of Atlanta, is
the secretary-treasurer of Hospi
tality Services Inc., a housing and
real estate firm. He was educated
at Oglethorpe and Georgia State
universities and has a BBA

degree in accounting.
He is a past president of Con
gregation Or VeShalom and has
served in many other capacities in
the congregation. He has been
involved for many years with Israel
Bonds campaigns in the congrega
tion and is a past guest of honor.
Benator is a past president of
Atlanta Men’s ORT and was their
Man of the Year in 1983. Heisalso
chairman of the Community Plan
ning Committee and the Israel
Programs Committee of the
Atlanta Jewish Community Cen
ter, active on Bekur Cholim
(Chevra Kadisha) at OVS, mem
ber of the Long Range Planning
Committee of the Jewish Home, a
division chairman of the Atlanta
Jewish Welfare Federation, on the
board of the Butler Street YMCA
and a past president of the W.W.
Woolfolk Bedford Pines Boys’
Club.
He and his wife, Grace, have
three children and three grand
children.
Dr. Gordon to speak March 16
on ‘Sex and the Jewish Single’
Dr. Sol Gordon, director of the
Institute for Family Research and
Education at Syracuse University,
will speak on Sex and the Jewish
Single at a program sponsored by
The Jewish Singles Alliance, an
affiliate of the Atlanta Reform
Synagogue Council. The presenta
tion will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sun
day, March 16, at Temple
Sinai, 5645 Dupree Drive, N.W.,
with a reception following. Admis
sion is $5, payable at the door. All
singles are invited to attend.
Dr. Gordon, the author of
numerous books and articles, is a
familiarface on such television and
talk shows as “Today,” “Phil
Donahue,” “Sixty Minutes ” and
“Good Morning, America.”
He has traveled worldwide, talk
ing to school groups, family plan
ning organizations, churches and
synagogues on the subjects of
sexuality and self-esteem.
He is married to Judith Gordon,
M.S. W., who has co-authored sev
eral of his books.
Dr. Gordon, well-known for his
energetic and humorous speaking
style, will address the following
topics: How do Jewish singles
handle their sexual needs?; Is sex a
roadblock to the development of a
relationship?; and The special
problems of a Jewish single parent.

cators of Atlanta will sponsor Dr.
Gordon in two sessions to be held
at Temple Emanu-El, 1580 Spald
ing Drive, Dunwoody.
Reform youth of high school age
are invited to hear Dr. Gordon
speak on How Can You Tell if
You’re Really in Love? and Are
You Ready for Marriage and
Inter-Marriage? between 10 a.m.
and 11:30 a.m.
From 1:30-3:00, a parents and
teachers session will deal with Pre
paring Today’s Jewish Child lor
Tomorrow’s Jewish Marriage. I he
