Outdoors Club is ready
to get off ground April 10
The Atlanta Jewish Outdoors
Club will hold an organizational
meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday,
April 10, at 6434 Boyett Drive in
Norcross.
Jhe club is for adults over 22
who enjoy outdoor activities such
as hiking, camping, canoeing, raft
ing, climbing and other similar
pursuits. This meeting’s purpose is
to establish the club and its goals.

Emory talk by Dr. Gitliss
to focus on propaganda
Dr. Baruch Gitliss, well-known
propaganda analyst, will speak at
4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at
1 10 White Hall on the Emory Uni
versity Campus.
His campus appearance, at
which he will discuss “Propagan
da—Terrorism of the Mind: How
to Live With It, How to Counter
It” is sponsored by Hillel.
At 8 p.m. the same evening, Dr.
Gitliss will speak at B’nai Torah
Synagogue.
Or VeShalom to present
lecture by Dr. Borowski
Congregation Or VeShalom will
present a lecture by Emory Univer
sity associate professor, Dr. Oded
Borowski, at 8 p.m., Thursday,
April 10, in the synagogue social
hall.
Borowski will speak on “Royal
Cities in theTime of the Monarchy-
an Archaeological Perspective.”
The program is free and the pub
lic is invited. Refreshments will be

Feminist to speak at Bet Haverim
Congregation Bet Haverim will
present a program on the correla
tion between the women’s move
ment and Judaism at 8 p.m. Tues
day, April 8, at the Quaker House.
Ellen Umansky, assistant pro
lessor of religion at Emory Uni
versity and author of books on Lily
Montagu, the founder of the lib
eral Jewish movement in England,
will speak on “Judaism vs. Femi
nism: A Conflict of Interest.”
The event is co-sponsored by
New Jewish Agenda. There is a $1
admission fee.
The congregation will hold its
Passover Seder at 7:30 p.m. Thurs
day, April 24 at the Quaker House.
A full seder meal will be served.
Cost is $10 a person. For reserva

An informational meeting for
the purpose of forming a new
Women’s ORT chapter will take

Soviet Union.

Family Passover slated
by Temple Emanu-El
Temple Emanu-El will hold
Family Passover Seder at 6:30
p.m. Thursday, April 24.
Rabbi Donald Tam will conduct
the service. A traditional Passover
Seder meal will be served. Cost is
$17.50 for adults and $9 for child
ren six-13 years-old. Children five
years and under are admitted free.
Space is limited.

A Capitol event
The fourth grade class of Hebrew Academy with Secretary of
State Max Cleland during a recent visit to the State Capitol.
forah Day School second graders show and tell
The second grade class of the Torah Day School recently completed the Parshat Breishit of the Torah.
These students study the subject of Chumash daily, and have now completed this section from beginning
t« end. Led by their teacher, Mrs. Miriam Feldman, the students read the final verses. They are, left to
right, Miriam Cohen, Ghana Stregevsky, Talyva Slovin, Karen Fisher, Daniel Gottlieb, Malka Rabmo-
witz, Jennifer Weiss, Sheila Asher and Ariel Sloan.
The second graders hosted parents and first graders as they concluded the Parsha. During the
concluding ceremony (called a Siyum), the children dramatized a scene depicting a committed group of
refusniks learning Torah from their rebbe. The class put in over 125 hours of study time to achieve their
goal.
