The Bat Mitzva of Stephanie
Ilene Silvers of Dunwoody will
take place at 10 a.m. Saturday,
May 31, at Temple Emanu-El.
A congregational kiddush will
follow.
Stephanie is the daughter of
Shari and Ron Silvers. She is
the granddaughter of Mrs.
Annamae Levenson of Miami
and the late Laurence S. Leven
son, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin
Silvers of Miami Beach.
Virginia Lyn Egozi of North
Miami Beach, formerly of Atlanta,
was elected Ohr HaNegev region
president of the National Confer
ence of Synagogue Youth (NCS Y),
which includes Miami Beach,
Atlanta, Chattanooga, Augusta,
Charleston, Nashville and Savan
nah.
A former student at the Hebrew
Academy in Atlanta, Virginia cur
rently attends the Hebrew Academy
of Greater Miami. She is a member
of the National Honors Society
and has been an active member of
NCS Y for four years.
She is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jose Egozi, now of North

Fierman of Atlanta will take
place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
May 31, at The Temple. A con

Todd is the son of Ruth
Fierman and Martin Fierman.
He is the grandson of Claire
Rappaport of Atlanta, and
Frances Fierman of Atlanta.
Peggy M. Shulman has been
ppointed executive director of
the Jewish National Fund’s
Southeast Region.
Prior to her JNF appoint
ment, Mrs. Shulman was direc
tor of consumer affairs for
Alterman Foods Inc. She has
also worked extensively with
volunteer organizations, both
for Women’s American ORT
and as campaign manager for
Paul Goldstein’s 1984 campaign
for the Georgia House of Rep
resentatives.
Mrs. Shulman has two
daughters, Lori, a junior at
Harvard College, and Shelly, a
freshman at Tulane University.
She is a native of Atlanta.
Jay Arthur Waronker, son of
Mr. and Mrs. William L. Waronker
of Atlanta, was one of eight stu
dents selected to be in the Honors
Studio at the University of Michi
gan taught by the renowned archi
tect, Gunnar Birkerts. This class
was opened to all 90 second-year
graduate architect students at
Michigan.
Manuela Bornstein will be
installed as 1986-87 president of
the Mt. Scopus chapter of Hadas-
sah on Sunday, May 25, at Lan
ier Plaza Hotel.
She was born and raised in
Paris. She became a travel agent
in 1953 and moved to the Uni
ted States in 1960. She has lived
in New York, Hawaii, San Fran
cisco, Princeton, N.J., and in
Atlanta since 1976, when her
late husband was offered a job
designingthe MARTA stations.
Her two sons, Jacques and Neil,
are students at Georgia Tech
and members of the band.
Mrs. Bornstein joined Ha-
dassah in Princeton in 1972 and
has since occupied several board
positions. She is a member of
Congregation Or VeShalom and
its Sisterhood, B’nai B’rith
Women, National Council of
Jewish Women and the Atlanta
Community Orchestra. She is
director of leisure and interna
tional travel at American &
Overseas Travel.
Jill Bayor, ajunior at Wheeler
High School, was selected to
participate in the 1986 Gover
nor’s Honors Program in the
are of English/communicative
arts.
The program will be June 15-
July 26 at Valdosta State Col
lege.
Jill also won an essay contest
entitled, “Freedom—Our Most
Precious Heritage,” sponsored
by the Optimist Club.
She is the daughter of Dr.
Ronald and Leslie Bayor of
East Cobb.
Edith Blicksilver, of Georgia
Tech’s English Department, has
been elected second vice president
of the College English Association.
She is also invited to participate as
an instructor of article writing at
the June 15-21 meeting of the Dixie
Council of Authors and Journal

anthology, “The Ethnic American
Woman," has gone into a third
printing.

Amiel of Dunwoody will take

Leo is the son of Bootsie and
Ralph Amiel. He is the grandson
of Sally Friedman and the late
Leo Friedman of Shreveport,
La., and Lydia Amiel and the
late Leo Amiel of Atlanta.
Great-grandmother is Mrs. Nel
lie Swartz of Shreveport.
Steven Steinman is exhibiting
“Georgia Landscapes,” an exhibi
tion of wall sculptures and draw
ings, at the gallery in Studio D-l at
Tula (one block behind Harrison s
on Peachtree). The exhibition will
be on view through June 5.
Steinman is an Atlanta artist
associated with Nexus Contem
porary Arts Center. He has exhi
bited throughout the United States.
