Shirim Chorale to present first concert June 11
The first concert of the Shirim
Chorale, Atlanta’s first professional
Jewish choral group, will be pres
ented at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June
ll, at the AJCC/Peachtree. The
Chorale, under the direction of
Cantor Joel Gordon, will perform
Sigma Delta Tau hosts
successful weekend
The Eta Chapter of Sigma Delta
Tau in Athens recently held its
Spring fling weekend for high
school seniors interested in the
University of Georgia and the
sorority.
Sixty girls from the Southeast
participated in the weekend, which
had a camp theme, the guests being
campers and the members stau.
There were two dance parties and a
pool party.
Rush chairmen Laurie Friedland
and Jeri Toporek organized the
weekend.
Etz Chaim will hold
"instructional Shabbat’
Congregation Etz Chaim will
hold a special instructional Shab
bat service at 9:30 a.m. Saturday,
May 3 I, at the synagogue. Discus
sion at services will include the
proper way to have an aliyah, how
and when to wear a talit and the
correct posture for the Amidah.
Specific questions will also be
answered.

North Suburban ORT to
hold installation June 10
The North Suburban Chapter of
Women’s American OR T will hold
its installation luncheon at 10:30
a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Cap-
riccio Restaurant, on Pharr Road
and Maple Drive. Donation is $15
a person.
The installation ceremony will
be conducted by Ruth Rothfarb,
national Bramson chairperson.
There will be a style show by Har
riet Coen, modeled by ORT mem
bers.

hold a coffee for prospective
members at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June
8, at the home of Lora and Lloyd

Blood drive to be held
June 1 at Zaban AJCC
Bicentennial Post 976, Jewish
War Veterans, and the AJCC will
sponsor a blood drive from 10a.m.
to 3 p.m. Sunday, June I, at Zaban
Park. Juice, bagels and cream
cheese will be served to all donors.

‘Women of Valor’
Congregation Beth Jacob will
hold its Ayshes Chayil (Woman of
Valor) ceremony at 8:15 p.m.

are Arlena Maija Wartell, Jennifer
Jacobson, Heather Perling and
Shana Zipora Levin.

New chapter of ORT
sets meeting for June 4
A newly formed chapter of
Women’s American ORT will meet
at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at
the home of Lila Sandler. Mem
bership includes the areas in or
around Lithonia, Decatur, Nor-
cross, Stone Mountain, Duluth and
I ucker; however anyone interested
in joining this group is welcome.
