The Temple ‘breaks tile’ to refurbish Hall
The Temple recently held a “tile
breaking” ceremony to mark the
beginning of the redecoration of
Friendship Hall.
Mark Jacobson, executive di
rector of The Temple, read a mes
sage from Rabbi Alvin Sugarman
who was in Colorado at the Cen
tral Conference of American Rab
bis convention.
Temple president, Edward Green-
blatt, and Barbara Levy, sisterhood
president, also spoke at the cer
emony.
Joel Lowenstein and Josh Brener
are chairpersons of the redecora
tion committee. Waiter Weinberg
of Allied Interior Constructors is
general contractor for the refur
bishment. Milton Kassel of Milton
Kassel and Associates provided
the interior design schemes.
Ms. Lowenstein, immediate past
president of the sisterhood, and the
late Judy Kirschner implemented
the two-year fundraising program
entitled Temple/Sisterhood Ep
icurean Delights for the redecora
tion of Friendship Hall. Joyce
Shlesinger led the fundraising camp
aign with committee members Judy
Zaban, Marjorie Greenberg, Susan
Stahlman, Priscilla Grumet, Bar
bara Abend, Lee Kout and Liz
Levine.

T. Brown, Toby Brown and Robert
Brown families provided the print
ing for Epicurean Delights, and
Affairs to Remember provided the
kick-off celebration for the pro
gram.
Temple Israel of Norfolk, Va.,
will hold its Fourth Annual Jewish
Singles Sun and Fun Weekend to
be held at the Virginia Beach Resort
and Conference Center Aug. 22-
24. Last year, 600 people from
many cities attended.
Worship, dining, music, danc
ing, sports, discussions and swim
ming in the ocean or indoor pool
will make this a complete vacation.
Cost is $165 a person, double oc
cupancy, which includes four meals,
services, Oneg Shabbat, dance
speakers, numerous sportingevents
and surf and sand.
Reservations and payment are
due by July 15. After July 15, cost
is $175. Additional information

“Guilt: Alias Jewish Terrorism” at
8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the
AJCC/Peachtree.
