Organizations
‘Cheer-up’ project
Beth Priven inflates balloons for Emory Hillel’s “pick-me-up”
project, by which parents were able to send cheer-up cards and
balloon bouquets to the students before final exams. Beth, student
vice president, conceived the idea. Aaron Shatzman, Hillel’s
program director, sent a letter to 800 parents explaining the
project, along with a response card. Over 200 returned the cards,
with a $1 donation for Hillel. Some sent additional donations.
Beth organized student volunteers to help inflate the balloons,
and a van was rented to make deliveries. The program was
considered an overwhelming success.
