Jewish couples club
to break the fast Oct. 13
The Young Jewish Couples Club
will hold its annual Yom Kippur
break-the-fast at 8 p.m. Monday,
Oct. 13, at the home of Marty and
Ellen Frisch. Participants are asked
to bring a dairy dish.
Children are welcome. To make

The club is for couples interested
in meeting other couples through a
variety of activities held once a

Nachal Lodge to host Buddy Darden
George (Buddy) Darden, con
gressman for Georgia’s Seventh
Congressional District, will be the
speaker at Nachal Lodge’s October
meeting, to be held at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 16, at Bailey’s res
taurant, located at the intersection
of Windy Hill and Powers Ferry
roads.
Darden, a native Georgian, grad
uated from the University of Geor
gia School of Law and was a
former Cobb County district attor
ney and state legislator. Elected in
1983 to fill the vacancy created by
the death of Larry McDonald, he
is on the Armed Services Commit
tee and the Committee on Interior
and Insular Affairs, where he
pushed for the expansion of the
Chattahooche River National Park
area.

Willeo ORT to hold special lunch
The Willeo Chapter of Women’s
American ORT will honor Susan
Berman, founding member and past
president, at its annual Parent-To-
Another Luncheon at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the home of
Bonnie Negrin, 756 Fox Hollow
Parkway, Marietta.
In addition to her presidency
Ms. Berman’s past offices include
vice president of education, vice
president of membership and Hal
loween bag chairperson. On the
regional level she has served as
publicity chairperson, Bramson
chairperson, American affairs and
District Board delegate. She is cur
rently donor and capital funds
chairperson in Willeo.
Ms. Berman is active in the
cause of Soviet Jewry and co
chairs that committee in her syn
agogue, Etz Chaim. Four years
ago when she was in the first adult
class to celebrate her bat mitzva,
she arranged to twin with a Soviet
woman.,
A $25 contribution to ORPs
Parent-To-Another program pro
vides small extras to ORT students
who are unable to afford them.
These extras might include any
thing from toiletry and personal
items to books, the opportunity to
attend a cultural event or even the
means by which to become a bar or
bat mitzva.

Kehillat Chaim Sisterhood
announce current theme
The sisterhood of Congregation
Kehillat Chaim has chosen “Life as
a Reform Jewish Woman Today in
the United States” as its theme for
the coming year.
The next meeting will be held
Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the home of
sisterhood president Rosalyn Bush.
Susan Pollack and Lauren Ma-
hady will speak on “Helping Your
Young Child to Lead a Jewish Life
in a Christian World.” Ms. Pollack
is the director of the Temple Sinai
preschool program and past direc
tor of St. Andrews Learning Cen
ter. Ms. Mahady is the assistant
director of Temple Sinai preschool.
