North Suburban ORT
plans appraisal clinic
The North Suburban Chapter of
Women’s American ORT will hold
a Founders Day clinic from 1-5
p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Kei-
shian’s Oriental Rugs, 3171 Peach
tree Road. Founders Day is the
traditional name given to appraisal
clinics.
With each $5 donation to ORT,
an appraisal team will evaluate two
items, heirlooms or recent pur
chases. The team includes Dan
Keishian, an expert on rugs and
tapestries; Professor Dan Pfeifer
of the language department of
Georgia State, who will evaluate
oriental art, prints and porcelains;
Ms. Judy Eid of Connoisseur Ser
vices, specializing in fine art and
antiques; Reed Savage, who has
extensive knowledge of antique
jewelry; Ms. Jill Nyquist from
London, a dealer and buyer spe
cializing in antique silver and
porcelain; and Mrs. Edith Reilly,
who has a 30-year background in
oriental art and porcelains.
Alpha Epsilon Pi
seeks new members
The Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity
(AEPi) at Georgia State University
is seeking new members. A suppor

'V ial of Life’ program
to be held at AJCC
I he AJCC Adult Department
will present a “Vial of Life” pro
gram at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.
14. at the AJCC/Peachtree.
I he small vial holds an infor
mation sheet which carries lists of
current medication, allergies and
tamily members’ numbers. Rescue
personnel are trained to look for
the vial attached under the shelf in
the refrigerator.
I he program is free and the com

fall membership drive

BBYO eighth graders
to kick-off new year
BBYO will begin its eighth grade
program at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, on
Oct. 19 at the AJCC Peachtree
with two sub-programs occurring
simultaneously, one for parents
and one for youth.
The youth will attend a “beach
party” w ith music, games and short
exercises, creating a relaxed envi
ronment lor the new and prospec
tive members to meet one another
and learn about the organization.

orientation providing an overall
view of the BBYO program, how
the youth become involved, and
w hat opportunities are available to

motivational specialist
I he Spirit of Life Chapter of the
City of Hope will meet Wednes

“Relocation Stress”
topic for newcomer group
The AJCC Adult Department
has formed a newcomer group for
those 55 and over who have moved
to the Atlanta area within the last
three years. The group will address
the concerns of finding a niche in a
new community, leaving behind
good friends and the struggle to
make new ones, and the loss of
familiar places, faces and things.
The group will meet monthly tor a
mini-hrunch at the AJCC Peach
tree.
The first meeting will he at 10:30
a.m Wednesday . Nov. 12. and will
feature Ellen P Klein. MSW.
