The Bar Mitzva of Lee Ira
Swerdlin of Atlanta will take
place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov.
8, at Temple Emanu-El. A con
gregational kiddush will follow.
Lee is the son of Joanne and
Dorn Swerdlin. He is the grand
son of Bessie Lee Harris and the
late Louis Harris, and Aaronette
Swerdlin and the late Israel
Swerdlin.
Lee will share his Bar Mitzva
with Albert Katz of the U.S.S.R.
The Bar Mitzva of Mitchell
Brett Arogeti of Atlanta will take
place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov.
15, at Congregation Or VeSha-
lom. A congregational kiddush
will follow.
Mitchell is the son of Ben and
Betty Arogeti. He is the grand
son of Mrs. Bolie Arogeti of
Atlanta and the late Morris
Arogeti, and Bertie and Bernie
Dudman of Atlanta.

Randolph Posner of Atlanta will
take place at 10:30 a.m. Satur
day, Nov. 15, at Temple Sinai. A

Carter is the son of Geoffrey
and Marilyn Posner. He is the

Daniel is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joel A. Harris. He is the
grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Her
bert J. Sackett of Atlanta and the
late Elaine Nathan Sackett, and
Mrs. Hilda Harris Commins of
Atlanta and the late Haskell A.
Harris.
The Bar Mitzva of Brian
Hyman Unell of Atlanta will
take place at 9 a.m. Saturday,
Nov. 15, at Ahavath Achim Syn
agogue. A congregational kiddush
will follow.
Brian is the son of Renee and
Gary Unell. He is the grandson
of Margie and Leonard Levin,
and Ruth and Harry Unell, all of
Atlanta.

Kerry is the daughter of Les
and Wendy Kraitzick. She is the
granddaughter of Nita Saack and
Lily Kraitzick, both of Cape
Town, South Africa.

The Bat Mitzva of Corrie Beth
Stone of Dunwoody will take
place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov.
15, at Temple Emanu-El. A con
gregational kiddush will follow.
Corrie is the daughter of Ar
lene and Stuart Stone. She is
the granddaughter of Mrs. Ma
deline Sirkin of Warwick, R.I.,
and Mr. and Mrs. David Slutsky
of Clearwater, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Novak of
Atlanta will celebrate their 50th
anniversary Saturday, Nov. 8.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gold
stein, daughter and son-in-law of
the Novaks, will have a party in
their honor at their home in
Griffin.
The couple will leave for M iami
the following week for more par
ties in their honor.

Adam J. Schwartz, a student
at Lakeside High School, attended
the fourth annual Duke Univer
sity Young Writers’ Camp last
summer in Durham, N.C.
The camp, sponsored by the
university’s Office of Continuing
Education, is designed for 10-16
year-olds interested in creative
writing.

Elliot Palefsky, assistant pro
fessor of psychology at Armstrong
State College, recently presented
a two-day forum at the Early
Childhood Education Summer
Institute at the University of
South Carolina.
Millie Melaver has been re
elected to a second term as presi
dent of the Savannah Jewish
Foundation.
Ms. Melaver, a former first
vice president of the Savannah
Jewish Foundation, is vice presi
dent of M&M Supermarkets, past
member of the board of the Jew
ish Educational Alliance, board
member and former secretary of
Hospice Savannah, board member
of the Southeast United Jewish
Appeal, board member of His
toric Savannah Foundation and
a board member of the Jewish
Children’s Services in Atlanta.
Also elected to serve the Sa
vannah Jewish Foundation were
Sheldon Tenenbaum, first vice
president; Ricky Eichholz, second
vice president; Dr. M ichael Zoller,
third vice president; Edward
Wexler, fourth vice president;
Leo Center, secretary; and Judy
Byck, treasurer.

Amy Aronson of Savannah
recently received a master of arts
degree from the Spanish School
at Middlebury College
Dana Braun, chairman of the
Community Relations Council
of the Savannah Jewish Federa
tion, has been named as the
recipient of the annual Young
Leadership Award, sponsored by
the Savannah Jewish Federation.
Braun will be honored, along
with winners of similar awards in
hundreds of Federations through
out the country, at the General
Assembly of the Council of Jew
ish Federations in Chicago this
month.
He is a graduate of the Univer
sity of Georgia, where he received
his law degree. He is with the
firm of Karsman, Brooks, Paint
er and Callaway.
As chairman of the Commun
ity Relations Council, Braun
heads up a program that deals
with Soviet Jewry, and the Holo
caust project.

Leon Slotin of Savannah has
qualified as a member of the 1986
Chairman’s Council of New York
Life Insurance Company.
He is an agent in the com
pany’s local office.

Hebrew name Joseph Pesach, in
memory of his paternal grand
father, Joseph Magdovitz, and
his maternal great-grandfather,

Estelle Roth and Jacob Wind
of Arlington, Va., announce the
birth of a daughter, Julianna
Roth Wind, on Oct. 27.
Grandparents are Julia Roth
of Atlanta, and the late Paul
Roth, and Mr. and Mrs. Julius
Wind of Coconut Creek, Fla.
Julianna was named in honor
of her grandmother, Julia Alha-
deff Roth, and in memory of her
