THIS IS HCWMOREHOUSE DID IT by Eugene Fussell The determination of the Morehouse squad homecoming was comparable to the high spirit that lasted throughout the Homecoming weekend. The pep rally sched*. uled for Thursday night-was not held, but this did hot deter the spirit, for the following morning many of the Spelman and Morehouse students had an Ole'-Fash ioned Pep Session, The pep session reached its apex when the beautiful sweethearts and lovely Miss Maroon and White were presented to the student bo dies. Miss Margaret Rucker, first attend ant to Miss Maroon and White, set the fel lows on edge when she remarked, "Fellows, we*ve got to winl" Miss June Hector, seo- ond attendant to Miss Maroon and ' White, captivated the audience with a pretty smile and a few remarks of encouragement. The band and cheering squad saluted the queen and the student body gave Miss Maroon and White, Miss Myma Smithy a five minute ovation. Miss Smith was very sin cere (the most sincere queen in the past four years) in her address. ’ 'ithout any doubt every Morehouse man believed h er when she said it had been her 'life long desire to someday become Miss Maroon and White* Her speech was so effective that her brothers at the "House" tried hard to make her wish come true aS s he con cluded in her speech, "Those bells are going to ring tomorrow night."
