The inter-collegiate ath
letic teams on Spelman’s
campus have been limited to
three sports for the ’87-88
school year; volleyball,
tennis, and track and field.
The Spelman netters have
had a productive and busy
schedule this season.
Although the Blue and White
5-9 win/loss record, after
facing teams such as Emory,
Paine, Fisk, Oglethorpe,
Morris Brown and Clark,
isn’t very impressive, Coach
Sue Feldcamp states that
this is because of a very
young team facing some very
competitive teams.
“We had a tough match
between Mercer-Macon
(Sept. 22) and we beat them
in four games. Then (Oct. 14)
we faced them again in a 2-
out-of-3 match-up and we
won again, but it did take us
three games to win it,”
declared Coach Feldcamp.
“The team has played very
sporadically. We’ve lost to
some teams that we shouldn’t
have lost to,” said Feldcamp.
However, Coach Feldcamp
inserted that the enthusiasm
the lady volly’er’s have had
for the game isn’t expressed
in their record, but rather in
the making of the base of a
very strong team through the
players working together.
“The team has gained a lot
of spirit, basically because
we’ve gotten to know each
