township of Anderson, Essex eounty, a
few miles from this eity on tho other

thickly populated with negroes as any

crimes, that their proaelico was no lon
ger endurable. Accordingly tho mi-

Kimball, the United States Consul at

which left St. Helena Jan. 4th, for tho
coast of Africa, and would probably be
transferred to the U. S. storeship Belief,
bound homo. Louis Nopoloon, the pre
sent Einporor of Franco, gave his con
sent to tlio removal of tho stono to
Washington. Its removal was witnessed
by several French and American officors,
