A* thcro is quite a difleroneo of opin ion in this community, in regard tn tho professional and moral merits and de merits, of Dr. Manley, wo feel called upon it* faithful public journalists, to lay Imforo our readers tho following comments and tho accompanying let ters, published in tho Knoxville Whig of March 10th. Dr*. Hamilton and Parker, are men of world wide fame, and their state ments may ho implicitly relied upon.— The letter of Dr. II., It will bo noticed, is addressed to Dr. F. A. Hum soy, u Physician, well known in North Geor gia and Hast Tennessee. “Mr. Kiiitor:—It is hoped that the public will justly Ascrilio a pronor mo tive to the physician* to whom the fol lowing letters arc addressed. I lectured in that College in 1843 and 1844, and my col leagues were Dr*. Child.*, Alonzo Clark, of Now York. McClintock, W. Parker, (now of Now York,) had occupied tho chair of Surgeon some years before mo. If he had graduated there in’43 or '44, ho ought have my signature to hi* di ploma, and also Child*’ and McClin tock’*, hut not Parker’s. I have, during the past winter, atten ded two or three courses of twelve lec tures each, at tho Lowell Institute.— This is a ball fitted up, and furnished with lecturers, by a boquest of a Mr. Lowell, Into of this city.
