Tho two-third rule was reported, in 1832. from n committee of which the late Vice President King of Alubama, was Chairman. An attempt was made to substitute tho majority principle, but it was voted down, in 18115, the second national convention was held in Balti more. Tho two-third rule was adopted after a long discussion. The majority principle at first carried, but was finally stricken out. In 1810 no action was taken on the two third rule, at the third national convention, a* Mv. Van Bttven was re-uoniiiinted for President by ac clamation. In l.s-14, at thu fourth na tional convention, the two-third ride was adopted by a close vote, al ter a long discussion.
