From our telegraphic dispatches, we
learn that two Democratic Conventions
wo to be held, growing out of the one
recently held in Charleston. Ono is to
meet in Raltiiuore on tlio lStli of .June
next, and tho other at Richmond, Vir
ginia, on the second Monday in June,
proximo. Wo express our regret,
we have done before, at this division
tho National Democratic party,
this wo have failed. The Charleston
Convention has evidently proved u fail
ure. “Douglas and anti-Douglas”
ruined every thing. If Stephen A.
Douglas, and his opponents, uro to
“rule or ruin” the Democratic party, wo
have no further use for it. Douglas is
only an individual member of tho party,
and.he ami his peculiar notions about
shivery in the territories are not worth
throe quarters of a cent, when com
pared with tho great interests of tho
National Democracy, upon which rests
tho salvation of this groat Republic. A
set of men congregated at Charleston, a
portion of which were determined to
nominate Douglas or break up the
Democratic party, and another set went
thoro to defeat him or break up the
party, i >110 of tlu-so is as reprehensible
as the other, and both ought to bo re
pudiated by tho Democracy of the
Union. The “irrepressible eonllict” is
upon us. Shall ivu go to Baltimore or
to Richmond ’! That's tlio question.—
So far as wo arc concerned, protesting os
