~LOVE IN A COTTACiE.
They muy talk oflovo in n cottage,
And bowers of trolliseri vine,
nature bowitchinglv simple,
And milk-maids lialfdivnio:
They may talk of tho ploiusuro of sloop-
ing
In tho shftdo of a spreading troo,
\nd a walk in thofioldsut morning,
By tho sirio of a footstep free!
But givo me a sly flirtation
By tho light of a chandelier,
With music to play in the pausos,
And nobody very near:
Or a seat on a silken sofa,
With a glass of pure old wine,
And mamma too blind to discover
Tho small white hand in mino.
Your love in n cottage is hungry,
Your vino is a nest for flies—
Your milk-maid shocks the graces,
And simplicity talks of pies!
You lio down to shady slumber,
And wake with a bug in your ear,
And your damsel that walks in tliemor-
Is shod likcmountnitioor.
True love is at homo on a carpet,
And mightily likes his caao—
Truo love lins an eyo for dinner,
And starves beneath shady trees,
II is wing is tho fan of u lady,
His foot’s an invisible thing.
And his arrow is tipped with a jewel
And shot from a silver string.
The lute Gem-mi Walker.
