On noxt Tuesday, November Ctli, by far tho most important election since the organization of our government is to take place. In former strifes /xir/y Muecru was the stake contended for; hut tin* vert/ existence <\f the government is in jeopardy. The question, as to how a man shall vote, always important, i* now freighted with fearful rospom-ihili- ty. Evory man should bring the- ques Hon seriously home to himself and vot< from Ids own conscientious eonviotiom of duty, just as if ho knew tho fate of this llcpublic depended on Ids Individ mil action. The success or defeat of the Union Ticket, will—if civil war should hinge upon tills fact, as it may—make a dif ference of at least 20 per cent in tho value of all kinds of property through out tho country. A man then worth $1000, lias at stake n pecuniary interest of $200; if worth $10,000 ho risks $2,000 If a man is largely in debt ho will bo uttorly ruined; for, after tho depression of proporty lie cannot possibly pay out. A laboring man will find his wages re duced from a dollar and a half a day to one dollar, and tho chances for getting work at all, will bo greatly reduced. It may bo said that pecuniary considera tions aro beneath the notice of patriots. This may bo truo or it may not. In- tercet should not bo weighed against principle. But that is not tho caso now. We now havo prineiple t patriotism and in terest a\\ on on onaHkh) of thoRoalos and on tho othor sido, parlyism, sectional strifes and animosities, and it may bo civil itself. No reasonable man, in Ids senses has a shadow of a doubt but that John Boll, if olectod, would restore peace and harmony to tho country by giving thoir constitutional rights to all sootions ; and this is all tho South wants, or lias ever askod for.
