Pdsro Nesbit lias boon equally ardont
not in advanco of the Governor.

vl oO Nesbit has tho lenrnhig add ex-
fivnee to do the ivoilc.
3d. A long eustoln has obtained in
Georgia of rostrioting our Govetnoi*s to
two terms—Ooy, Brown has already
served tho usijul length dr thud, and in
obodipnoo to tho prescriptive usage,
(although but n Conventional law,)
ho should bo satisfied. It Is friends
have a porfoct right to voto for him If
they wish, and also to doelino tho
privilege* as one of thorn, the writer
ahull do. Uaving twlco assisted ' to
fnako Gov. Brown wlmt ho is, oven
against men of great mental and mo
ral worth, and of his own persuasion
in religion, tho writer shall tako tho
liberty of voting for a man his equal
in moral worth—his superior in men
tal force and culturo—his inferior in
tiothlng that qualifies for ofHco, so far
as fuots enable otto to judge.
4th. Judge Nosbit having long resi
ded in a commercial city, whore finan
cial questions are often dlscussod in
public us well as in privato, may per
haps bo better suited to navigate tho
ship or Stato, through tho fiiiaueial
straits and sIiou!s that Ho before us.
A man of extensive information on
gonoral subjects is often found de
ficient on tho intricate questions of
finance, from having never been iu a
position to study them practically.
Tho writer board this last romark
onoe made in reference to a Georgia
>)udgo, (not Gov. Biown) who ir.ndo
many decisions that had to bo rovorsod.
With no intention to disparage Gov
Brown—tho writer thinks Judgo Nos
bit cah do quite ns well in directing
tho finitneee of tiie State. Ho is a man
of Christian integrity and stusesmau-liko
capacity, and can bo safely trusted ns
Governor of Georgia.
fitli. Judgo Nosliit is known to bo a
conservative man. Although the first
to ntovo in tho Convention that Georgia
secede, (for it was that or degradation)
still tho tenor of his life, and tho men
tal and moral structure of the nma,
constitute him a man of moderation,
in other words, one of caution. This
element of great moment iu a
ruler in times of revolution—it is always
necessary lo coiinterbuiuuco tho ten
dency nt such times to revolutionize
everything.
fitli. .Judge Nesbit is a mun of classi
cal education—a lino scholar and writer
—a mar. of expansivo viows on the
subject of educating tho people, going
farther than any public mun tho writer
knows.
lie was President of a Convention
held in 1851, iu Marietta, for die pur
pose of dovlsing a common school #y
tern. Tho wiiter was present, and well
rccollcots a debate, in which Toombs

to hear it attacked by Bislmp IT
The Convention did nothing, but it
w.is not Xeshit’s fault, for bo insisted
that every child had a political riyht
to he educated.
Till. .Judge Nesbit lives in tho geo
graphical centre of tiie Stun*, and is
like to bo I lee. from any sectional
bias and plans, than if he bad hU habi
tation iu either extreme.
8th. Having boon a member of the
Confederate Congress, lie is thoroughly
jiostcd as to ail the now relations be
twoen .Georgia,and tho recently organ
ixed government—a consideration that
has weight just at this time, when the
new machinery needs tho most skillful
engineering.
As to tho many littlo skirmishes Gov.
Brown has had with Generals, Colonels,
Captains, Ac., of late, tho writer lias
nothing to say, being quito willing to
admit that- as it is very common in
those contests, “nobody is hurt.” Men
very frequently “draw on their fancy
fur the fuots” evon in larger fights,
mid Gov. Brown ovidentiy did so when
he attacked by insinuation, Jell*. Liwis
a man of Calhoun views, us being un
mindful of Stale Sovereighty. Govern
or, you wore in a big light tlion, and
hurt nobody as bad as yoursolf. Lut us
all admit Gov. Brown to lie a clover
man—Judgo Nesbit a greater, and
President Davis greater than citlier.
