Gen* Price’s Commune.
Gen. James Harding, Quartermaster
General of tho army of Missouri, has
arrived in tho city, direct from General
Price’s headquarters, which ho left on
tho 18th. Gen. Harding confirms the
roported falling back of Gen. Price’s
commund to Neosho, intelligence of
which wo published in our issue of the
20th, and expresses tho opinion that
the retrograde movement of Gen. Price
is only ono of strntogy, for tho pur
pose of forcing General Fremont to ex
tend his lines, and thoreby wenken his

Price’s army is represented to tic in

ber is less than has been supposed, all
tho original camp followers and jay-
hawkers having been sloughed off
and tho army consisting entirely of
approved good fighting men, of whom
scarcely ono hundred are on the sick

Gen. H. says the proximity of Mc

operate with Price, and the combined
ariidcs cf tho two Generals will out
number any force Fremont can bring

"I regret exceedingly that Messrs.

and abundant munitions of war, to bo
placed instantly in Kentucky, and

expected to bo realized hy the expidi-
tion arc, first, to carry tho war into »ho
cotton States, which aro chiefly respon
sible for tho rebellion, and t< produce
tlio disorganixation and dispersion of
tho immense Confederate army in Vir

thus satisfy all tho demands, and obvi
ate all tho difficulties about the supply

long suppressed loyalty and gaud scum*
of the people may find a wife and ap
