Savannah, Feb. 1.—At three b’cluck

.Savannah, Feb. I.-—Two gunboats
came up St. Mary’s liver on Monday
last. Ono of them'went up : the river
and Bet fire to several plantations.—
Cupt. Harrison’s company of cavalry

St, Mary’s on Tuesday.
Savannah, Feb. 1,—The Abolition
fleet consisting of one iron clad Turret,
four gunboats and ono inortur boat,
again attacked Fort McAlistor at Gene
sis Point this morning at 21) minutes of
8 o’clock, and continued until half-pnst
2 in the afternoon, when the enemy ro
tired, whipped again. The bombard
ment was more furious than' tho last.
The only person killed was Mnj. Jr.o
B. Gallic, commanding tlio Fort, a bull
striking him on.the.head..

8.30 a. m.—Tlio fog deceived me as
to the distance. Instead of being two
hundred yards from the obstructions,
the iron.clad is between a quarter and
a lialf mile from thorn. "

day Burnside tendered Lincoln his
resignation as an officer of the United
Btatos Army; Lincoln declined'to re
ceive it, informing Burnside that he

ness to accopt the smallest command in
the army. Gen. Franklin thus closes
his parting address to his corps.* “In
