ft®" 1 A considerable scare was created
among our citizens a few days since,
by the report that tho "Yankees wore

was not altogether without foundation,
as about 100 arrived on 'the steamer
Laura Moore, yosteiday morning, hav
ing been captured in tlio vicinity of
Corinth. They left on tho morning
train for Richmond.
jfeaT-lt would seem that speculators,
extortioners, hucksters, and all, seem
determined to raise the prieo of every
article necessary to the sustenance and
comfort of life, up to 1000 per cent, on
peace prices. It is a litoral fact, that
but.few articles can bo bought for muoh
less than 1000 per cent, on prices that
ruled in times of peaco.- ^
