J. II. Lumpkin,
Dec.ROtw-tf. Sheriff,
It is said that if a puff of air were to be blown
into a vein of an animal, death would instanta
neously lollow, because circulation would be
stopped. The blood makes the entire* circuit
of the human body every seven minutes, and
whenevar this circulation is impeded or any of
its channels arc clogged by impurities which
ought to be carried off, disease follows—fever
or a disorder of liver or kidneys, or scrofula, or
dysoepsia. To get at and remove tho source of
the difficulty use the old and infalliable blood
purifier. Dr. Walker’s California Vinegar

Trust What Time has Sanctioned.
The maxim that the voice of the people is the
voice of the divinity, may in some cases, be open
to doubt, but the testimony of honest and en
lightened witnesses extending through a series of
years, and all to the same purport, is worthy of
credence, admits ot no question. Upon such testi
mony the reputation of Hostettcr's Stomach
Bitters as an antidote and cure for many ailments
is based. During the twenty years that it bas
been before the world, innumerable preparations
intended to compete with it, have gone up like
rockets, and come down the extinguished sticks.
Meanwhile the progress of that incomparable
tonic has been swift and steady—always upward
and onward like the eagle's-flight. Its intro
duction produced a revolution in therapeutics,
and it proved to bo one of those salutary revolu
tions that cannot go backwards. To day Hostet-
ter’s Bitters is one of the most popular remedies
in Christendom, and commands a larger sale
than any other medical preparation, domestic
or imported, on thic side of tho Atlantic. As a
cure lor dyspepsia, billious disorders, nervous
affections, general debility, and as a preventive
ot epidemic fevers, it takes precedence of every
other remedy. This fact should teach the ambi
tious country dealers who endeavor to foist their
local abortions on the public in its stead, how
futile their small attempts to cajole the connnun
ity must necessarily be. Where the game fish
have failed there is no chance for the “suckers,”

A WORD TO ADVERTISERS.
The boasting of certain newspaper pub
lishers in this section of country, renders it
proper for ns to call the attention of adver
tisers to the following indisputable facts;
The Rome Courier has been published
continually for over twenty-six years—ex
cept a suspension of.15 months by the war
—aud the last sixteA years by the present
proprietor. There is no other paper in this
section that is even six years old. The
Courier was the last paper in the Cherokee
country to suspend during the war, and the
first to resume publication after its close.
This paper has always enjoyed a fair
portion of public confidence, and particu
larly since tho war has constantly increased
in circulation, but never so rapidly as dur
ing the past six months.
The laws of Georgia require that all the
legal advertising of the respective counties
shall be done “in the nearest newspaper
having the largest circulation, or a general
circulation in the county.” Under this law
the Courier now receives the advertising of
Floyd, Polk, Haralson, Walker and Dade
counties, and were there not a paper pub
lished in that county, would be entitled to,
that of Chattooga also.
No other paper in Rome now receives the
legal advertising of even one county.
With these facts before them, advertisers
can easily determine the merits of the
Courier as an advertising medium.
