Lieutenant Mlley, of Genera! Shat
ter's staff, left here this morning with
11 troop of tb* second cavalry, under
Capt. Hre-lt. to make Ihe rounds of th"
entire military district o' Santiago de
Luba, and for the purpose of receiving
the formal surrender of the Spanish
forces. He goes first to San Luis, where
there are about 4,600 of the enemy’s
troops. Lieutenant Mlley will then re
ceive the surrender In order, of 800
men at Cobre. 1,200 at Catalina, 2,600 at
Guantanamo and 3.600 aL Baracoa. A
total of 10,000 Spaniards ar" expected
to yield their arm;, to this one troop
of American cavalry.
To reach Baracoa Lieutenant Mlley
will In- comp-died to iid.- straight (cross
the island to the northern coast, led
by a Cuban guide. He will ride under
a white Hag for protection, but General
Toral has sent members of Ids staff

Gen. Linares Loses His Arm.
The wound of General Linares is
much more serious then reported. His
left arm has been amputated and to-,
