WHEREAS Justice and good policy
require the adoption of some cer
tain and uniform mode for weighing all
Cotton, brought in Bales or Bags to this
place and ottered for sale.
Be it therefore ordained by the City
Council of tu*t Avid and after
tlie passage and publication of thiaOrdin
nance, it shall not be lawful). for any
person or pirsons, purchasing Cotton in
Hales oi Bags to weigh qr pause to be
weighed, the same except at a public
Ware House, and off Keepers of public
Ware Mouses, as well as their assistants
concerned in Weighing cotton shall with
in, twenty days from the publication of
tliis Ordinance, appear before some nn in

TTPON the petition of Roberts Thomas,
U stating that he was possessed of a
certain bomfgiven by one Henry Hughs
in his life tinis to said Thomas, under me I
penalty of 5 hundred dollars, with a condi
tion thereunder written, and to be void of
the said Henry Hughs, shall make «:.d
execute good and sufficient warranted ti
tles to a certain tract of Land lying and
being in the county of Burke, containing
two hundred and fifty a ores adjoining lands
of Hell and Walton, and bearing date on
the 12th day of December 1810, a true co
py of said bond as nearly m can as recol
lected by said Thomas is annexed to said
petition and filed in the clerks office to
gether with such other evidence as the
said Thomas has, and the said original be
ing destroyed. It is therefore ordered that

Men, viz. Joe, Moses, Adam. Joe is about

been accustomed to waggoning. Moses is
about 21 or 22 year* of age, ycllow com-

well made, except a little nockneed in
one knee, near or quite 6 feet high. Adam
is about 25 or 26 y ears of age, yellow com
plection, well made, five feel 5 or 6 inches
high, has had a piece of one ear off not
recollected which. The above reward will
be given for the apprehension and sccurinjr
