September last, two negroes, a fellow
named DILL, of a copper color, com
mon size, well made, soft, pleasant voF’e
and lie lias lost one tooth in the upper
side of his mouth, I believe on the right
side—lhe other is his wife, hy the name
of AN.’J, a yellow woman, almost a mu
latto. She is low hut very well made,
and of a proud disposition. They in
tend going to North-Carolina, Roanoke
river. They will he very apt to change
their names, and my name and (he stall
in which I live, as they have done before,
Loth being very sensible.
Any person bringing them to mb or
will lodge them in any safe Jail, so that I
got them, shall he rewarded with one
hundred dollars.

vember after the death oftheirlate teach
er Mr. Tuck, they immediately consult
ed upon the most beneficial method o
filling the vacancy. The hostility of our
climate to strangers, evinced in the early
and Ir mooted death of Mr. Tuck and al
■>o by other numerous facts, induced the
hoard to enquire for some suitable per
son who had been previously accustomed
lo the climate, to undertake the manage
ment of the school. Such a person was
lonnd in Mr. Joel Catlin who being dis
posed to give bis whole attention to such
an object for a length of time, was Imme
diately sent on to New-York to obtain
Ihe practical knowledge requisite for
the superintemlance of a Laucasterian
School. He is expected lo return by the
time above mentioned, when the Semi
nary will be opened and conducted as
heretofore.
