The Board of Visitors
AT the late examination of tin,-
WINDSOR HILL FEMALE A
CADEMY, feel no less a pleasure than
a duty in laying before the public Iheii
fifth semi-annual Report.
lu making out this report, the Board
• are well advised of their lia -leness to
award to this School that meed of praise
which has been claimed exclusively by
others. And, that they may avoid too
great minuteness of detail on the dis
criminati o excellent e by which the pu
pils distinguished themselves so honora
bly in their numerous studies, (he Board
i declare more genera ly, their warmest
commendation of that system of teaching
which is still pursued in this Institution
with such extraordinary success.
The examinations on Ihe Orthography
and Syntax of English Gjßatnmar, in
Orography, American and Ancient His
tory, Rhetoric, Belles-lettres, Logic,
Philosophy, Pain ing, &<;. &c. were, for
the most part, sustained with unerring'
promptness, and with a fulness of fawili- 1
arity that evinced, beyond the power of
artifice, a thorough knowledge about
their studies, which we have never seen
excelled in similar Schools.
It is, moreover, due to the indefatigable
and efficient exertions of the Incumbent
of this School, to declare, that we have
never known so much, so wr,:,t, learn
ed, in so short a time, as was manifested
by the pupils under Miss S. M. Andrews,
at her late public examination ; and in
this regard, we believe it is not in the
promise ot talents or industry to do more,
With a firm reliance in the justness of
these remarks, we do cordially commend
this School to the patronage of every
Parent and Guardian to whoso keeping
nay be committed the important c harge
of female education, in the assuranc
that few Institutions in our country of
ford equal advantages under the same
expenditure of time and money.
Before we conclude this repent, we
begleavc to tender to Miss Andrews one
very grateful respect and esteem, for
that impartial and untiring assiduity by
which she has conducted her School 50
entirely to the satisfaction of her patrons;
and for that affectionate care and vigi
lance, which so justly secures to herself
the lasting respect and love of all her pu
pils.
