toils Ini ire advancement having l>e£n
removed, and such measures adopted by
the Hoard of Trustees, ns will give a new
impulse to the exertions of the Faculty.
Among these measures, it is thought pro
per to specify particularly, the appoint
ment of Professor Drake, of Cincinnati!,
to the Chair of the Practice of Medicine.
His acknowledged reputation as a Dec
larer, and more especially his practical
acquaintance with thc discuses most pre
valent in the Southern and Western sec
tions of our country, in which a majority
of the Graduates in Medicine may he ex
pected to locate themselves, must greatly
enhance the value of Ids instructions.
The additions which have been made
to the Anatomical Cabinet, with the fa
cilities afforded for dissection and de
monstration, arc such us will bear com
parison with those of the oldest Medical
School on this side the Atlantic.
In all other respects, it is confidently
believed, it is not surpassed by any of its
sister Institutions, with all of which, as
far us is known, it is placed on a fooling
of perfect equality,—a course of Lec
tures in one, being hold equivalent to a
course on the sumo branches, in every
other.
The Alms House and Hospital of th©
city afford ample opportunities to th&
Student of acquiring clinical instruction,
and hours are appropriated to this pur
pose. An Infirmary for diseases of the
eye is also connected with tho College,
under tho direction of the Professor of
Surgery, who will operate in the presence
, of tho class, where this is practicable.
The following is tho organization of
tho Medical Faculty,—viz;

The fee for attendance on each coursu
is #ls, or S9O for all tho courses. Tho
graduation fee is sls, and no other
charge is made either on matriculation,
or subsequently.
The whole expense is therefore less
than tjCOO for the two full courses, re
quired by law to entitle the (Student to
graduation. One ofthese, ut least, must
