THE Jefferson Medical College
was instituted in Philadelphia, in

dowed by an act of the Legislature of
1 ennsylvahia, with power to confer de
grees in Medicine, and with all the privi
leges and prerogative* of similar Institu
tions, in our own country and in Europe.
Wince its foundation nearly (500 Stu
dents have attended the respective cour
ses of Lectures, and of this number, 145

the Canadas, West Indies and Europe,'
have been admitted to the Degree ofDoc
tor of Medicine.

commence on the Ist Monday of No
vember next, and it is believed, under the
most favorable auspices; every obstacle
to its future advancement having been

The additions which have been made
to the Anatomical Cabinet, with the fa
cilities afforded for dissection nful de
monstration, arc such as will bear com
parison with those of the oldest MedicaJ
Wchool on this side the Atlantic.
In all other respects, it is confidently
believed, it is not surpassed by any of its
sister Institutions, with all of which, us
tin* as is known, it is placed on a footing*
ol perfect equality,—a course of Lec
tures in one, being held equivalent to
course on the same branches, in cverxf
other.
The Alms House and Hospital of the
city afford ample opportunities to tho
Student of acquiring clinical
and hours arc* appropriated to this pur
pose. An Infirmary for diseases olthf*
eye is also connected with the College,
under the direction of the Professor of
Wurgery, who will operate in the presence
of the class, where this is practicable.

The annual Commencements for con
ferring the degrees, will not be delayed
beyond the time requisite to complete the
examination, that no unnecessary ex
pense may be incurred hy the student,
for hoard. This may be procured iu
Philadelphia, at the rale of from #2 50 to
#1 in very respect,able houses, to which
the Janitor will furnish references, w ith
out charge.
Ten Htndeiits are by law admitted
gratuitously, each Session, (the sum of*
#2O only being paid by each to meet ilia
current expenses of the Institution.)
