it barely necessary to state tlic political
principles which shall guide its course.
The excitement winch has spread
throughout the whole Southern country,
in conscqunce of tho unrighteous I’arill
■ of IStis, has created a marked dilference
m the political sentiments of the citizens
of the (South, as touching the powers of
• the General Government—which diller
enco, it is our candid belief, will in a
great measure be removed, by laying be
fore them, in ns clear and intelligible
form as possible, the principles anil cor
rect policy of oar entirely new and expe
rimental government. The course we
think has not been pursued in as direct a
line, as might have been wished. The
disputes of parties have usurped too
ai’gely the columns of the lew orthodox
I'd pert* in ourcountry, to allow a candid,
sober and dispassionate investigation ol
our national policy—and, of tho delicate
relations which exist—and which were
intended by the framers of the United
•dates U'onslitutioii to exist—between
the several .'stales and the Federal Gov
eminent. We would not indeed by the
expression ol this opinion, be supposed
to accuse those prints of dereliction ol
duty, but merely to slide a fact, which
must be apparent to the Editors them
selves of those papers.
To present, therefore, to tho public, a
sheet upon which shall he inscribed the

explain the object anil aimofour Federal
Union, and the only means oy winch it

The proprietors hind themselves to

kept over them. No man has yet been
found, so unbiassed by bis own interest

public go id—none so pure, as to induce
Ids constituents to eonlide to him their

In consequence of the other Daily Pa

news disseminated through Inc country
with great dispatch, long before they
reach the harbour.
In its polities, the Couuiku & Er.QnniF.u
is purely Democratic—adhering to the
principles? and usages of the Republican
Parly, and advocating the re-election of
General Jackson to the Presidency. Its
columns arc alike devoted to foreign

however, it does not act upon the creed
of fanatics or Bigots, Dili on the contra- j

ty and religion only, which arc founded*
upon peace and go u! will to all mankind
—the fruit of which is tolerance and hro

Upwards of four thousand copies of
the Courier and Enquirer are published
