admit. Fiom the communication alluded lu, it
is very evident that the pride af Capt. Carr as a
soldier has hcoii hurl. by the public giving me the
credit nl being commander of the detachment en
gaged in the affair at Boykin's plantation, on
the 3d of June. Capt. Carr denies that I had
tucll command, and adds, that if he was to Ih
superceded it •• must he by some OHe higher in
Command than Sergeant Majoi Brown.” The
Captain appears to have foigotten, tlm lie not
only allowed me, a Sergeant .Major, to super
cede him, ns / will show presently, hilt that on
a subsequent occasion, when his company was
ordered the day after Capt. (jarniany’s battle, to
Shepherd’s pi iiilHlion, he gave up his com
mand, and quietly permitted himself to lie mi
pereeded bv a gentleman who was not only, not
Sergeant Major, hut without any rank whatev
