For the lust two or three days there lias been a slight improvement'in the market in consequence of the last foreign news, which is considered favorable. II \no iso s's cabinet his been made up for him by a thousand le'ter writers from Washington City, who are pethapa the vmy worst authority to be relied on for any inhumation on the subject. Cen. Harrison will himself be the President, ns Mr. Clay remarks, and fill offices as his own judgement may dictate We have every confidence in his discretion I Olid honesty of purpose, and we are fully satisfied that j the selections will bo made in reference to the capacity | ntid honesty of the incumbent, and if so. the public in- j lerest will be subserved, and none have any good, ground of comp!.nut. Mr. Dawscn is spoken of by same of these letter J writers, as Sec eta y of War, and Mr. Gilmer us Sec retary of the Navy. Either one >,f these a pointments would lac glut, lying to our pride us Georgians, and an appropriate couipbnn tit to the State, But whether either ofthe.se till an office in the 01 I Hero’s cabinet or not, we shall be perfect.y sil.sfi and. \\ e cannot for ourselves, app eciute the re-.-on or pmp.iety of my one port nr toe lion of the country interposing a claim to {■filer, upon the ground of grogiaphicul position; the incumbent of nffic: in addition to moral qualifications, should be capable of discharging the duties incident to his office, and none others should be chosen. If o Georgian fills an office in tile cabinet, we shall be grat ified, but if not, we shall he satisfied, end not a mur mur shall esc a; e ua. We were not induced to lend rur feeble aid to the elccti hi of Gen. il irrison, from expectations or hopes of sledi an interested a:-d selfish character. Our wishes will he fully teulisrd, if his cabinet consist of honest, faithful ail! capable nicn, whether they come from North, Donlli. East or West, provided they will be the instruments of cfi'ccling that grand work of reform, for which Gen. Harrison lias been elected to office. In | lace of some remarks pn pared by ourselves oil the subject of the M.mroe Kail Hood Bank, v.e com mend to our leaders the tallowing from the Georgia Journal. They are written inn spoil of liberality, c editable to tint author.and worthy the consideration and serious reflection of every one, and more j articu larlv of the citizens of Macon and of the adjoining counties. It should lie borne in mind diet this Bank, its resources, and all its operations have been made subservient to the prosecution of a work ol Internal Improvement, the design of which, is to contribute to die wealth and p asperity of our town. Is it then un. reasonable,!o a;k of every one interested in the welfare < f Mucm. a friendly and tavornhle consideration for this Institution I With its rise and tall, we are -all more or less interested. The community desire its success, not onlv i.i the capacity of hill-holders, but as participators in common ot all those advantages, which the road mil t inevitably open to the residents of Central Georgia. All that is asked for the Institution is fair play, and if enemies are to be combatted with, let them he enemies from ai ro id, and not from our midst.
