The proprietor of this valuable medicine acquired his know I- j
*dg of its ingredients from a long residence among the abort- I
gines of thi* country, and it is a selection from the mot ap- i
proves! and successful medicines which they use. I? m offered I
to the public by the proprietor with the consciousness that he
is placing within their reach a rentedv capable of relieving
many of his afflicted fellow citizens who art suffering tinder
the varions chronie and obstinent complaints to which ft is ap
plicable. To such it will prove the means, and in nutnyea*es
the only means of relieving their sufferings, anti restoring
them to health and happiness. This is not offered as a com
mon remedy, that may perchance be equally good with many
others now in use, but one which is capable of saving life in
many cases where all the usual remedies fail. This it has done
repeatedly ; and this is the reputation it has obtained wherev
er it ha* been introduced.
This medicine has bt-en found highly useful in many ambig
uous diseases not here specified, and it has been used witn
wonderful success as a Spring and Fall purifier, those who are
subject to various complaints, and whose constitutions require
invigorating. Whenever a diet drink is necessary, this Pana
cea, taken in usual doses, will answer all its purposes in much
legs time, at less expense, and in a far mere agreeable manner
than th* common diet drink.
As an Alterative its medicinal virtues stand unequalled, to
which facts its extensive use and miraculou cures hear witness.

[From Dr. Musgrove, in the V. S. Army.]
Walker County, (Ala.) July 31, IRJ6.
Gentlemen— I have had occasion in the recent campaign in
the Creek Nation, to attend upon very many cases of Ague and
Fwer, and by the recommendation of our Surgeon General,
Dr. McLeod, who supplied the army with your Southern To
nic, 1 was induced to try it. 1 did so, and have never in the
whole eourse of my practice been m*re pleased by the effect
of any midicine. It never fbilrri to curt.
Yours respectfully,
E. G. MUSGROVE, M. D. Surgeon,
Col. M’Millan’s Battalion,4th Reg. Ala. Volunteers.
[From J. R. McLeod, M. D.]
Montgomery, November, 1835
Messrs. Costea h Coxe :
Gentlemen —I have used your Southern Tonic in a number
ofcas*-s, and have no hesitation in sayin, that I have found it
; decidedly more efficacious in Ague and Fever than the rrrae-
I dies in general use. Its gieat merit is in its judicious combi
nation of Stimulant, Purgative, Tonic aud Diaphoretic quali
ties. Respectfully, J. R- McLI'OD.
