Whereas 1 have received official
information oi a most cruel and wan
ten Murder having been committed
in me LOwn oi Darien, & county ol
MHntosn, on Sunday evening the thir
teenth day of January la->t past, on
the body of h man by the name of
Stcphcu Tilly, by ,a certain William
Iruren ot me County oi Hancock, in
tins SiaMS andirom’ the verdict of
the Cononet’s In giest held ov-r the
body of the said deceased, it appears,
that the saiu murder was perpetrated
by the discharge of a pistol loaded
with nudiis shot from the hand ofthe
said Bu<ch, and who it is represen
ted has since lied from justice. The
Raid burch is a noted gambler, ra
ther above the .viiddle stature, ligh.

Now in order that the said Wil
liam Burch may be brought to ex
emplary justice, 1 have thought pro
per .to issue tnis my Proclamation,
hereby offering a reward oi one hun
dred dollars to any person or per
sons who may apprehend and secure
the said vVilliam Burch in any se
cure jail within this State.
And 1 do hereby charge and re
quire ail officeis, both civil and mi
litary, bci mging to this state, to be
vigilant in aiding and assisting in
apprehending and securing him, the
eaid William burch, so that he may
be brougiu to, trial for the crimv
whereot he is charged as aforesaid.
