he hopes, by a prudent and patriotic
selection of articles for publication,
to merit the . approbation of those
who are always governed by such
measures as have tor their object the
general good j and not by men who
make a mere profession of them
While then we adhere to “ liberty as
our motto, & truth for our guide,” we
trust our Press never will dissemi
nate any tiling derogatory to the prin
ciples of justice, liberty and huma
nity, which ought not only to be
printed and written, and enrolled in
ihe columns of a newspaper, buten
graved on pillars of marble.
We may reasonably presume, that
a paper conducted upon apian like
this, will receive the patronage of a
generous and enlightened public.—
For the immediate satisfaction of
those who are willing to encourage an
institution of this kind, we submit the
following
CONDITIONS:
1. The Georgia Press shall be
neptly pripie.d on paper of a good
quality, and delivered weekly to sub
scribers, by mail or otherwise.
2. Price to subscribers three dol
lars per annum—one half to be paid
in advance.
3. Advertising at the Augusta or
Milledgeville rales.
4. All letters, communications, &c.
addressed to the editor, must be
post paid—and no subscription to bc
disconiinued until all arrearages are
discharged,
5« When 400 subscribers are ob
tained, a paper, on the plan propo
sed, will immediately commence.
